La Liga FC Barcelona - Pep Guardiola given a verbal contract: President Sandro Rosell; Transfer News
The newly elected Barcelona president, Sandro Rosell, recently confirmed that the club has reached a “verbal agreement” with their current football coach Pep Guardiola, and he is going to be a part of the club for a new two year contract, while he is also being given an option for an extension for a third year.
Rosell confirmed on Tuesday that he is going to receive 15 million Euros to pay the coach, and he accepted the fact that right now the club is facing a financial problem, but the coaching staff is compromising, and therefore, he has told them to wait but he will pay them within a week. He said that Pep is a good coach and Barcelona need him on the sideline for more trophies.
He said: “We’ve reached a verbal agreement and now the vice-president for sport and Pep’s lawyer are sorting out the final details.”
When he was asked about Arsenal’s captain Cesc Fabregas’ move-in to the Catalan side, he said that it is a complicated matter that is going to take quite a while to decide. He said that the bad part about all of this is that the news is all over the internet, magazines and newspapers. He said that they just sold Yaya Toure along with Chygrynskiy, and they had enough finances to buy the Arsenal captain, but the financer on the other side was demanding too much for the player. He told the press that he is going to South Africa for some “issues” that the club is facing, and he might get in touch with the Spanish player and talk him through so that he can come to Spain and make the dream move that he wanted to. He said he knows that the Arsenal man wants to come to Barcelona, and he is happy about the fact that Barcelona is such a great club that players like Fabregas want to make a move here, but there are complications and the club is going to try its best to bring him here. He confidently denied the fact that a deal of 50 or even 60 million Euros is going to take place. He said the price tag for the Arsenal captain is too high, and he would try his best to talk the English club down and add Fabregas to his side.
In other news about Rafa Marquez and Ibrahimovic, the club’s President revealed that Marquez’s representative wants to see the management of the club, but there is not enough time to meet him yet. He said he doesn’t really know why the representative wants to see him, but it is not really regarding Marquez, but he will definitely try and meet up with him.
Regarding Ibrahimovic, the Barcelona President added that no offers have yet been received for him, and they don’t even want to sell him. He said that the club’s coach is counting on the former Inter Milan striker, and he added by saying that Pep Guardiola is going to take the best out of him, as he always does with all other players. When he was asked about Yaya Toure, he said that he really wanted him to stay, but either it was the pressure by his brother, who is in Manchester City, or something else; his agent just wanted him to leave. He added that if a player is so resolute in his decision, then he should not be forced to stay. He also said that this is the only reason why he also wants Fabregas to leave Arsenal, as the player himself wants to leave his club.
