La Liga: Football Transfer News – Arsenal’s Cesc Fabregas’ move to Barcelona delayed
There have been a lot of rumours about the Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas' move to the Spanish club Barcelona. When the season was coming to an end, Cesc Fabregas accepted the fact that he wants to join the Spanish club Barcelona in the near future, and wants to play for them and win trophies.
During his season in Arsenal, Cesc Fabregas has been injured and has gone through thick and thin, but has not managed to win any trophies for the Gunners. Cesc Fabregas was in the youth club of the Spanish side Barcelona. He used to be really good friends with Lionel Messi and Gerard Pique. He admitted to the fact that he wants to go back to Spain and play for Barcelona, and later on his father added fuel to the fire by telling the media that Arsenal should respect his son's point of view and let him leave for Spain.
Fabregas, on the other hand, was very confused about his future. At a point he even met the Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger, and told him face to face that he wanted to leave the English club, but on the other hand, he said that he wanted Arsene to decide his future and he would do whatever Wenger would tell him.
The other Arsenal player, Aliaksandr Hleb, who also made a move to Barcelona, asked Fabregas to stay at Arsenal because Hleb left Arsenal and did not even manage to stay at Barcelona for a long period of time. However, the story of Cesc is a little different, because Fabregas is a centre midfielder and a player that is of key value to both the sides.
After the 2010 FIFA World Cup, Spain celebrated as they won the final from the Netherlands and became the champions of the world for the first time in the history of the game. It was a pass from Cesc Fabregas that found Andres Iniesta's feet and was turned to goal during extra time to win it for the Spaniards. Before the team celebrated, Fabregas told the press that he is a proud Arsenal player and he is happy that he is a part of Arsenal. On the other hand, he was ‘forced’ to wear a Barcelona jersey while celebrating (by teammates Gerard Pique and Carles Puyol), and that added fuel to the fire.
Arsenal fans are worried, as they don’t want their captain to leave the club; on the other hand, Barca fans seem ready to welcome Fabregas into their fold. The addition of Cesc Fabregas in the club would make them totally invincible, as they already have the amazing Lionel Messi, Xavi, Iniesta, David Villa and Pedro in their squad. Right now, Barcelona has won every competition that they have been a part of. In 2009, they won all six trophies, and even won the Champions League. In 2010, 7 of their players were in the starting line-up of the Spanish side, and they won the FIFA World Cup 2010.
However, Barcelona's president, Sandro Rosell, has given the final verdict. He said that there are no more talks being held between Arsenal and Barcelona, and the transfer might be delayed to next year as Arsenal does not want to sell their captain off. Arsenal demanded too high a price for their midfielder which the Catalonians were not ready to pay. Rosell stated that Arsenal feels very hurt by Barcelona as they were trying to hijack their captain. He even added the fact that Fabregas was not even in the market as the Gunners did not even put him there; and Fabregas himself wanted to be a part of the Catalan Giants.
For now, Fabregas' chapter is closed as the Barcelona president told the press clearly that he might try and buy him next year and the Catalans cannot pay too high a price for Fabregas. However, Cesc wants to come to Spain, and this story is far from over, as the captain of the Gunners can cancel his contract with Arsenal; however, that just might not happen at this moment.
