Football Update: La Liga Match Report- Getafe versus Real Sociedad, 0-4
A shocker was delivered by Real Sociedad in La Liga as they defeated Getafe by four goals to nil and in the process increasing their percentage of achieving European glory.
Rumours before Christmas in San Sebastian were rife regarding an unexpected comeback by the Basque side in to Europe after the summer results. The team is showing an impressive run of form after their coach Martin Lasarte warned his men of losing anymore.
Henceforth their last four continuous defeats have become a mere bad memory from the past.
On the other hand, the coach of Getafe Michel is pessimistic about an appearance in Europe and when he talks about it obviously means Europa League rather than Champions League. He commented on the issue expressing it was highly unlikely his club would be
part of Europe at the end of this season.
After this match, it appears his approach was more realistic rather than pessimistic suggesting Michel and Co. will have to work on all grounds to end up with a healthy and happy ending.
In the match, the home team fell to first blood juts after the 9th minute. Miguel Torres was extravagant with the ball with Xabi Prieto leading to bring it back for the away team.
Victor Sanchez was a major disappointment as he lost a chance to equalize soon after the goal. This demoralized his team a lot hence helping Real Sociedad to remain in control of the game.
Their lead was doubled in the 32nd minute when Antoine Griezmann produced a strong volley to bring another goal on the score sheet.
Mane got another chance to score but the shot went inches wide from the bar. Getafe wanted vengeance hence they lead another attacking during dying minutes of the first interval. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Manu-del-Moral-c23377 nearly had it in the bag 7 minutes after the match resumed but
his effort was blocked by Claudio Bravo.
Getafe didn’t get another chance to score openly like the previous opportunities however, drama ensued in last 3 minutes of the game.
Mikel Aranburu caught fire leaving an emblazed trail behind him marred with destruction as he struck twice in the dying moments to end all hope for Getafe. Getafe were over ambitious hence left too many open places which expectedly allowed Real to turn their
defence into Swiss Cheese.
In two swift counter attacks Real struck two goals making this their best away victory since the defeated Malaga five goals to one in 2004.
This match leaves Real Sociedad on the 11th spot in La Liga making them breathe down the neck of Getafe who have dropped to the 9th place.
