It looked like the Togolese forward was destined to score a hat-trick in the game. Ozil went on to curly a brilliant corner in on the 54th minute mark and found an unmarked Adebayor. Inexplicably, the striker went on to miss a free header and as a result, missed out on an easy hat trick.
In the 60th minute of the game, Madrid went on to display a fine case of team work, before Benzema ultimately put the ball into the back of the net. Adebayor then returned the favour and played on the Portuguese, who whipped in a cross into the path of the on-rushing Benzema. The French striker then went on to thump the ball into the back of the net and extend Madrid’s lead to four goals on the night.

Once again, Madrid came very close to scoring in the 65th minute of the game. The keeper had almost no time to react to the headed effort, but somehow, made a fine stop as he tipped the ball over for a corner, instead of letting it slip past him.
