La Liga News – Eric Abidal comes to training after the FIFA World Cup 2010
We all know how disappointing the FIFA World Cup 2010 was for the French side. They started off in a relatively easier group; they had Mexico, Uruguay and the host team Bafana Bafana, in their group.
The start of their FIFA World Cup 2010 was pretty much “okay!” as they faced the South American side, Uruguay. The Uruguayans did manage to trouble them by attacking time and time again but they did not manage to score any goals. The match ended in a goalless draw and the French side could not score a goal on the underdogs. Later, they had to face Mexico and they lost to the Mexicans 2-0, and faced big crisis as they were in a must-win situation against the South Africans. South Africa totally crushed the European side and won their last match as both of them were eliminated in the first round of the FIFA World Cup 2010.
After a disappointing end to the FIFA World Cup 2010 the French team came back for a vacation, including Eric Abidal of Barcelona. The Barcelona star was one of those players who were not criticized by the French press as the team was supposedly “facing internal problems,” during the FIFA World Cup 2010.
Recently Barcelona called up players for the training sessions as the pre-season matches are about to take place. All the players who took part in the FIFA World Cup 2010 were given a rest. Eight of Barcelona players, including the new signing David Villa, were part of the winning team in the FIFA World Cup 2010. When the Spaniards were crowned champions, they came back home to enjoy the vacations as the manager of the club, Pep Guardiola called the Barca B players to represent the club during the pre-season.
The French player, Eric Abidal, after a disappointing FIFA World Cup 2010, was the first player to return to the training session on Saturday. He is the first World Cup contingent who reported back to his club for his medical check up and training. He was present at the club on Monday for his pre-season medical and joined the Barca B youngsters during the training sessions.
He went through a standard medical exam which included; echocardiogram, electrocardiogram and also weight and BMI tests. Other players who were part of the FIFA World Cup and are expected to return this coming Sunday are; the Mexican captain Rafa Marquez, the Brazilian right-back Dani Alves and the Argentinean magician Lionel Messi.
They are scheduled to return to training before the team leaves for the tour to Asia. After the return of the squad from Asia, the rest of the team will be back to training, including the 8 players that were part of the Spanish side.
There were two training sessions on Monday, and the second session that took place during the evening featured the French player, and the Barcelona left-back, Eric Abidal. His first day at training was pretty much tiring because he had to clear his pre-season medical and then he had to train with the Barcelona youngsters.
The French player also joined his manager Pep Guardiola during the training sessions and both talked for a long period of time, before Abidal started to train properly. Both men looked to be in good mood, as Pep examined the player during training.
The group of 27 players that trained in the morning were all part of the training sessions during the evening as Eric Abidal became the 28th player who was featured during the training sessions. The training routine was the usual as possession exercises took place and helped lighten the load of a full day double-training-session.
The squad is now going to return on Tuesday morning at 9’o Clock as the Barcelona youngsters are going to come back to train for their tour to Asia as the big names like Eric Abidal, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Bojan Krkic are going to be a part of the tour.
