La Liga News – FC Barcelona’s president talks about the financial issues of the club
As the Spanish football club Barcelona is suffering with debts and cannot pay them, the new president Rossell has announced his plans to improve the club’s finances.
The new President revealed to the club's official website that the priority of the club, for now, is to improve its finances and he knows exactly how to do that. He said that the board first needs to improve the short-term financial situation of the Club and he even agreed that the club will be asking for a syndicated credit of 150 million Euros.
He told “fcbareclona.com” that he found the club in a huge debt and he is working on fixing all that. He said that the club is basically suffering with cash-flow problems and they will be resolved in a few days time. He added that it was just a little matter of concern because the players did not even get paid with their last month’s wages and that has happened very few times in the club’s history. He corrected all doubts about bankruptcy by saying that the club is not bankrupted and he is going to make savings in unnecessary areas and he is going to achieve the goal of paying his employees with their wages.
About the “syndicated credit of 150 million Euros” he said that the club needs to meet the short-term cash-flow requirements that need to get improved. He said in a few days the club’s vice president for economic affairs is going to sign a deal for a credit of 150 million Euros. He cleared everything by saying that the sale of Chygrynsky actually took place to give a boost to the financial crisis the club was suffering from.
He even told the press that there is going to be no increase in the membership fee. He explained that the board that was present before him had already applied for the credit of 150 million Euros; and they knew that the resources were not sufficient enough. He said we are already in a phase of negotiations with the bank and something will be done about the amount, very soon.
Soon, there is a meeting coming up for Barcelona’s president, Rossell, in South Africa; because of this meeting he is going to miss out the demonstration in the Supreme Court that restricts the independence of the Catalan Parliament. In South Africa, he is going to have a series of meetings that are going to be of huge interest to the club. He wanted his employees to be confident in him about his decisions as he has just been voted as a president and is working day night to make it the best club. He added to this by saying that he was voted by the board and is going to show the board that he was worth it. He told the press that he also wanted to resolve “Johan Cyruff’s matter” in the general assembly of members’ representative.
At the end he told everyone how the club is experiencing problems with the TV deals. He said Barca is experiencing problems with the TV channels regarding the right to broadcast Barca’s matches. He told the press that he spoke to the Mediapro’s representatives and they said they will work something out. He said that Mediapro verbally confessed that the money owed will be paid and he has not yet received any cash and he is not going to be satisfied until he receives it. He said the other clubs have had a signed contract and had TV deals but Barca did not sign any deal and just had a verbal guarantee of the payment.
Considering how Barca is suffering from financial crises, and how the employees are not receiving their pays; the president of the club is trying his best to work something out for the club. Soon the amount of 150 million Euros will be given to them and they, hopefully, will be out of these financial problems.
