La Liga News: Getafe vs. Barcelona – Lionel Messi’s opener helps Barcelona secure the three points (Part 4)
As Gerard Pique was sent off for the Catalan giants, Getafe were capitalizing but Boateng simply banged on to the Argentinean captain to earn himself a red card. Being back on level terms with Barcelona in terms of number of men, it was
simply hard to fetch he ball for Getafe as they barely got the ball during the last few minutes of the game.
The captain of the team Manu Del Moral did not really have an extraordinary game but it was seen that he was the one who struggled the most to help the team in scoring goals. By being a part of the game from the left wing, he kept on crossing
the ball in and even tried cutting in but Daniel Alves was never troubled by the Getafe captain and the ball was usually stolen away from him.
However, he did find the net while playing against the Spanish Champions and that was when Gerard Pique was penalized for handling the ball inside the penalty area and was sent off. By winning a penalty, Manu made no mistake and shot the
ball powerfully into the top left corner to help his team win the game.
The match was filled with excitement and even though it was a “very” physical game, the tired Barcelona men won in order to stay on top. However, they only managed to stay on top for a few hours as Real Madrid managed to defeat their local
rivals Atletico Madrid in their home ground the Santiago Bernabeu. 2-0 was the final score line of that game and Jose Mourinho’s men managed to stay on top of the Spanish La Liga points table.
The good news for Barcelona is that Javier Mascherano is performing very well for their team. He showed Guardiola why he is known to be one of the finest holding midfielders in the world. On the other hand, Gerard Pique got two yellow
cards during the game which means that he is going to miss the next game. Moreover, in case the former Manchester United centre back earns a yellow card in the next game that he is going to play, he is going to miss out on the most important game of the Spanish
La Liga and the most important match for Barcelona, the El Classico which is right at the end of this month.
Even though Guardiola’s men did not give a very satisfying performance, they still won the game in order to stay on top. It was nice to see how the Catalan giants managed to stay on top even after such an average performance. However,
such a performance against Jose Mourinho’s team is definitely not going to work out for them. Are Barcelona ready to face the Los Blancos? Well, not just yet; not only because they are tired but also because the “El Classico” specialist Xavi Hernandez needs
to find his form back.
