La Liga News – Rafa Marquez on his way to Juventus or Genoa
There are few players in the world who get less time on the pitch and still manage to impress the fans in the amount of time they get. Rafa Marquez is one of them. The amazing defender from Mexico has the ability to play as a defensive midfielder and even as a centre midfielder.
The captain of the Mexican team and the star of the Spanish club Barcelona has ways to impress his fans around the world. His ability to pass the ball, control it and even tackle it away from the opponents' attackers is amazing. He is definitely a player to look out for while he is on the pitch; however, his age is the only factor that is getting in his way.
The 31 year old does not have much time left in his career, but he is still managing to impress football fans from all around the world, with his amazing techniques.
During his season in Barcelona, he did not get much time on the field, as he was injured and later became a part of the bench when he was fit enough to play. In his first match, after he came back from a thigh injury, he managed to score a marvellous goal from a free kick that was taken from 35 yards out. He managed to turn the ball enough to hit the pole and go inside the net, with the goalkeeper having no chance whatsoever. Soon, his season ended with only 2 goals with his name but amazing number of tackles that he was able to make on the attackers. He was in the squad for the encounter again the Champions League winners, Inter Milan but he did not manage to get time on the pitch as Gabriel Milito was far more impressive than him.
Soon, FIFA World Cup 2010 started and the Mexican captain had to come on field to help his team advance to the next round. The Mexicans were paired up with France, South Africa the host nation and also the Uruguayans, who were no less than impressive. Their first match was against the Bafana Bafanas and they drew the match 1-1, with Marquez stepping forward to score a goal which helped him win a point for his team. Later, they faced the French side in which they thrashed the European giants with a 2-0 win. The Mexicans showed the world what they were made of as they thrashed the French and qualified for the pre quarter final stages. Marquez, in that particular match, was also playing tremendously. They lost the last match against Uruguay and faced Argentina and did not manage to qualify for the quarter finals.
Marquez, on the other hand, managed to impress the Italian teams Juventus and Genoa. Both the teams are in the race to buy the Barcelona man and even New York Red Bulls wanted to sign the Mexican but no one is too sure where he wants to go. The Barcelona president, Rosell reported that he would not like Marquez to leave but if he wants to then we will not stop him. He told the press that if a player wants to leave the club, then it's his own choice and no one should intervene.
For now, any Italian club would suit the Mexican player the best. He is a defender and the Italians are famous for their defence. With the amazing Italian club Juventus trying to sign him, he should definitely try to join them because they have already sold out a number of players and he might get a chance to play for them in the first team. The 31 year old still has the potential to impress the football fans and should definitely join Juventus if he does not want to stay in the mighty Spanish club, Barcelona.
