La Liga News: Real Zaragoza vs Hercules; 0 – 0 Full time Report Analysis (Part 1)

Real Zaragoza has been a team that has disappointed in the past season. Though they are considered to be the 6th largest team in a country where football will be the biggest religion after Christianity, but the Spanish
team finished 14th in the last season of 2009-10.
The other team Hercules just got promoted last season when they got the 2nd position in the Segunda Division. It is expected from them that they will have a tough time in the Spanish league, La Liga but they better step
up their game if they want to stay in the competition for the next season.
Before the encounter, for a team that just got promoted to the top league of Spain, Hercules were doing pretty well as they held up the 14th position. Real Zaragoza sadly were not in a comfortable position prior to the
match as on the table they were inside relegation zone with the 19th position going to their name.
Both teams had played 3 matches apiece, while Zaragoza had acquired just a single point and Hercules had gained 3. That is because Zaragoza had lost its first two matches and then drew their 3rd. On the other hand Hercules
lost their first match but won their 2nd, however they had to face defeat again in the 3rd.
The starting lineup for Real Zaragoza was 25 Leo Franco goal keeper, 4 Matteo Contini centre left defender, 21 Jirí Jarosik centre right defender, 24 Ivan Obradovic left back, 2 Carlos Diogo right back, 27 Kevin left midfielder,
14 Gabi right midfielder, 11 Florent Sinama-Pongolle forward, 8 Ander Herrera right centre forward, 10 Nicolàs Bertolo attacking left midfielder and 17 Lafita attacking right midfielder.
The substitution line up for Real Zaragoza included 5 Edmílson, 20 Said Boutahar, 1 Antonio Doblas, 6 Maurizio Lanzaro, 16 Nobrega Braulio, 18 Marco Perez and 22 Ádám Pintér.
The starting lineup for Hercules was 1 Juan Calatayud goal keeper, 23 Noe Pamarot centre left defender, 5 Abraham Paz Cruz centre right defender, 16 Paco Peña left back, 21 David Cortés right back, 14 Abel Enrique Aguilar Tapias
left midfielder, 18 Matías Fritzler right midfielder, 17 David Trezeguet forward, 10 Tote right centre forward, 12 Royston Drenthe attacking left midfielder and 7 Rufete attacking right midfielder.
The substitution line up for Hercules was 9 Javier Portillo, 6 Cristian, 25 Piet Velthuizen, 4 Mohamed Sarr, 24 Tiago Gomes, 11 Sendoa Aguirre Basterrechea and 15 Kiko.
The match took off with the whistle of referee Ignacio Iglesias Villanueva at Estadio La Romareda in Spain which happens to be the home ground of Real Zaragoza. The stadium can occupy up to 34, 600 fans in it.
The match seemed to be one of the most boring fixtures that have yet taken place in La Liga. It seemed that both teams were intent on acquiring 1 point apiece as they played a safe game with a lot of plays in the midfield, though
they were expertly accomplishing it.
The match started with Hercules on the run as they created offensive opportunities in search of a goal. In the 2nd minute Hércules’ Royston Drenthe attempted a through ball, but David Trezeguet was caught offside.
That was followed by a 3rd minute foul by Matteo Contini of Real Zaragoza. It seemed like Zaragoza were not willing to take any chance and loose more points so that they could lift themselves to a better position on
the table.
In the 6th minute it was Zaragoza that were oppressing their opponents defence as an attempt was blocked. Ander Herrera, from Real Zaragoza shot a right footed strike from outside the box which was blocked and was assisted
by Gabi.
