La Liga News – Unforgettable Season for Barcelona’s Anderes Iniesta, winning goal scorer for Spain
The Barcelona star Andres Iniesta has been at the top of his form throughout the FIFA World Cup, despite the fact that he was injured when the Spanish League was taking place. Even though Andres Iniesta had an “injury plagued” season in La Liga, he still managed to score the winning goal in the FIFA World Cup’s final match against the Netherlands to crown his country, Spain, as World Champions.
Andres Iniesta is usually considered to be a shy person, but he exploded with happiness when he scored the only goal of the FIFA World Cup’s final match against the Dutch side. He was yellow carded for taking his shirt off during the goal celebrations. Nevertheless, he should be thrilled because he brought honour to his country and he scored the most important goal in the history of football, as he brought home the first ever FIFA World Cup for Spain.
This goal was not the first time that Andres Iniesta took a vital strike on his opponents. He has been dangerous in numerous games and the one that reminds you of the “vital strike” would be against Chelsea in the 2009 Champion’s League semi final at Stamford Bridge. His team, Barcelona, was a goal down against the current English Champions, Chelsea; after Michael Essien scored from a long range to put his team ahead in the 9th minute. In the last minutes, Barcelona passed their way through to the 18 yard box where Lionel Messi found the ball at his feet. He gave a back pass to Andres Iniesta, who took a fabulous shot and struck it past the Chelsea goalkeeper Cech. The match ended in a 1-1 draw as Barcelona advanced to the final on away goals and they won against Manchester United to win the Champion’s League. Iniesta’s celebration back then was the same as it was in the FIFA World Cup’s final, after he scored the winning goal in extra time to win it for Spain.
In the final match of the FIFA World Cup 2010, the fans saw Andres Iniesta coming back to his best. The goal that he scored from the pass that was supplied to him by Cesc Fabregas was a reward for his injury plagued season that restricted his appearances in La Liga. He could not help his team lift the Spanish Cup and the European Super Cup but he did manage to play for the European Champions league, even though he was not 100% fit. During the league, he came back in September to the starting line-up for his team, Barcelona. Even though he came back, later he suffered from another injury and was out for 2 weeks in December and later he got injured again with muscular pain on March 27th and that marked the end of his season with Barcelona.
Throughout this season, Andres Iniesta has been able to score 3 goals only; two for his country, and one for his club, as he was able to take part in 29 games only. His goal against the Dutch was his third goal of the season as he scored twice in the FIFA World Cup and once with Barcelona when they were facing Racing and won 4-0.
When Andres Iniesta celebrated after the only goal of the final match between the Dutch and the Spanirds, his shirt read clearly: “Dani Jargue – you’ll always be with us.” 26 year old, Dani Jurgue was a Spanish superstar, who died of a heart attack in 2009; he was also the captain of the team and a great friend to Iniesta. Iniesta, along with his injuries, suffered a terrible loss of his friend right before the season started and he told the press that he was a good player and he had great respect for him and he wants to dedicate this win and this goal to Dani Jargue.
Even though he has had an “injury plagued” season, Iniesta has always impressed the football fans with his great dribbling and passing skills. Moreover, this time he showed his other side by scoring a fabulous goal, which is going to go down in history as the Spaniards lifted the FIFA World Cup trophy for the first time in their life.
