La Liga News – Victor Valdes speaks about Barcelona
The Barcelona goalkeeper Victor Valdes came in front of the press for the first time as he was last seen on the television screens when the Spanish side won the FIFA World Cup 2010. Valdes was a “substitute” for the Spanish number 1, Iker Casillas.
Casillas was also the captain of the Spanish side as Victor Valdes was to sit on the bench throughout the FIFA World Cup 2010. Valdes was one of Barcelona’s eight players that were a part of the Spanish side during the FIFA World Cup 2010, which they actually won after an action pact final match against the Dutch. At the moment, he is on a “well-deserved” break but on Monday he was in Gava to celebrate his achievements. Later on he spoke to his club’s television as he told them about his point of view.
Valdes thinks that his club, Barcelona, are going into the next season with an amazing squad. He said that even though he is enjoying his holidays at the moment, he is still very keen to get back to work by joining his team mates in the training sessions.
Although Valdes has been busy with other things throughout his summer break, he still knows about the on-goings at the Nou Camp. He knows about all the new signings and told the press about his point of view. He told Barca TV that he likes the fact that Barcelona have signed players like David Villa and Adriano from Valencia and Sevilla respectively. He thinks that both of them were very important players in their former clubs and will also be important for their new club, Barcelona. He said that signing them and bringing them into Nou Camp was a great idea and he will really want to see them performing well on the pitch.
Valdes added on to his conversation and said that the team is even more ambitious about winning. Even though their last two seasons were a huge success, Valdes believes that the team is still willing to perform and they want to win even more. He said that the team is still very young and the new signings bring even more ambition and desire to win titles for the club.
Victor Valdes was asked what he wanted to achieve in the future and he said that the Champions League is one trophy that is very important for all the big clubs in Europe. He said that next year the Champions League final is going to take place at Wembley and he will really love to go there and win the final of the Champions League. He said that the team wants to win all the competitions they are involved in and he will love to win it and enjoy the great atmosphere that is created after winning the Champions League.
He then mentioned about Cesc Fabregas; he told the press that Fabregas is an amazing player and he will really want him to come home, like everyone else. He said that Cesc could be “the missing piece” of the jigsaw puzzle as he is definitely going to help Barcelona win trophies. He said that the fans are waiting for him and so am I and if he comes to Barcelona it is definitely going to make the squad even stronger.
Even though Valdes will not be back for training till August 9th, which is after the end of the Asia tour that the team is going for, with many young players from Barcelona B. He said that the body needs its rest as he deserves this break and will soon be back on training for his club.
Victor Valdes has won everything with the Barcelona team; he was part of the team during their amazing run in 2008 – 2009, when they won all the six competitions that they competed in. Winning six trophies is a big achievement but Valdes told everyone that winning the FIFA World Cup 2010 was the biggest achievement for him as he was able to make his country proud.
