La Liga: Team of the season – Best of the rest (Part 1)
Most people would wonder that making a La Liga team of the season will be quite easy, just put all of Barcelona’s eleven starters and you have a team which is best of the La Liga 2010-2011 season. However these people tend to forget
that there are clubs other than Real Madrid and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604 in the Spanish league.
These clubs in question do their best within their limited budget and the money that they recoup from television rights and player transfers. Thus let’s look at a team which contains the best players from the La Liga keeping in
mind their performances throughout the 2010-2011 season...
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/David-de-Gea-c10463 (Goalkeeper)
The young Spanish goalkeeper looks destined for a move away from Atletico Madrid right now but his displays for the men in red and white earned them a 7th place finish in the La Liga season. De Gea’s goalkeeping talents
exhibit brilliance in every shape and form. Currently playing with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Defence-c38904 and conceded a meagre number of 53 goals in 38 matches. Out of these 38 matches, De
Gea kept a clean sheet in 11 encounters and made a http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Total-c40747 of 154 saves.
De Gea is not only comfortable whilst dealing with crosses from out wide but his vast range of goalkeeping talents include shot stopping and also closing down the space in an one-on-one position with the striker. If De Gea seals
a move away to the English Premier League, it will indeed be a loss for La Liga where he has impressed in the 2010-2011 season.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Andoni-Iraola-c5593 (Right Back)
Often under looked due to the success of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Daniel-c9879 Alves, Iraola is a technically talented full back who plies his trade at Athletic Bilbao. Playing at the right back position, Iraola has been a source
of inspiration for his team mates due to two reasons. As a defender, Iraola is an uncompromising customer whilst on the offensive front, the Spaniard has impressed with his assists in the 2010-2011 season.
As the second highest assisting defender in the Spanish league, Andoni Iraola contributed with 7 assists and four goals. It was due to his strong defensive http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Skills-c40539 and a tendency to bomb forward in attack, Bilbao finished 6th
in the La Liga above the likes of Sevilla and Espanyol.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/David-Navarro-c10564 (Centre Back)
A villain for many in European football, Navarro has formed a reputation that travels before him. He is seen as a “dirty” player who indulges in cynical fouls and also acts rashly on the pitch. To top it all off, he has a past
record of brawls on the field of play along with diving and simulating and faking injuries in order to influence the referee.
With all of these withstanding, it cannot be said that http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/David-c10409 Navarro is not a capable defender. Using at the experience at his disposal, Navarro makes best use of his limited capabilities. His position in Valencia’s central defence
has gone onto show that he is a true leader of the team which finished closest to Barcelona and Real Madrid in the top two.
