The Catalan trainer is not ready to get carried away with his side’s advantage in the Liga BBVA standings as he believes that Los Blancos can still bounce back in the race for the silverware.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604 head coach, Tito Vilanova, wants to take things slowly as he is not ready to call his team the champions of the league already. The tactician has emphasized that there is still a long way to go in the season and that anything is still possible.
According to Vilanova, Barca do not afford any complacency in their style of play despite their lead in the league table. The Spaniard also downplayed suggestions that the Catalan giants have already won the title race against their fiercest rivals, Real
Madrid.
La Blaugrana are currently enjoying a great lead at the top of the Spanish Primera Division’s league standings. Their recent victory over second-place Atletico Madrid takes them 9 points clear at the top.
In addition to this, Madrid played out a 2-2 draw against Espanyol which means that they have dropped a further 2 more points in the league table. Placed at the 3rd place in the standings, Los Merengues are 13 points behind La Azulgrana.
However, Tito is not yet convinced and believes that current situation can change in the future. He also claimed that the Spanish La Liga is not a boring league.
“We’ve won a lot of points, but it hasn’t been easy. We’ve had to battle back to win games and perhaps we won’t be able to do that in the future. In my first year [2008-09] we were 12 points back and we had to go to the Bernabeu and play for the title.
Now, there’s a team that’s only nine points behind us,” the manager quoted.
"I don’t think that this title is ours to lose. If there is a team that has the capacity to win a lot of points, and they overtake us, then they deserve the title. It happened in 2009 and it could happen again. La Liga is not easy, and it certainly isn’t
boring."
Defending champions Real Madrid are struggling to keep up with their title ambitions as a deficit of 13 points has never been recovered in the past 103 years of the Spanish La Liga.
