La Liga news: Galliani informs Ibrahimovic negotiations with Barcelona are on - Part 1
The vice president of AC Milan, Adriano Galliani has stated that San Siro club has officially indulged into negotiations to sign in the world class Swedish player Zlatan Ibrahimovic from Barcelona.
Ibrahimovic has just spent a season at Barcelona and even before the end of it rumours had started to spread that the player might be making a move to another club. There were a couple of reasons for that, for instance, there was reservations about the player not getting enough time to play and being over shadowed.
Initially both Barcelona and Ibrahimovic indicated that the club might be transferring him to another club but these statements were soon dissolved when the club announced that they will only send him if there was an extremely good option present and that was unlikely along with the players agent stating that there was no evidence that the player will be leaving Camp Nou.
However, acquisition of Spanish superstar, David Villa, did leave further doubts if Ibra was going to survive with the Catalans; a question whose answer is very hard to give as Barcelona have been very unpredictable with their signings this summer.
The coveted forward was left out of the team that played against Sevilla and thrashed them 4-0. Barcelona claimed the Spanish Super Cup, but Ibra was not in the team and that is what he has been demanding the whole last season, a better chance of representing himself. In his first season with Barcelona he has appeared in 29 matches and scored 16 goals which is a pretty good average. The only problem for him is that there are just too many good players on the team which makes it very hard to find a permanent place for him on the starting line up, a place that many other big clubs will be willing to grant him.
After the Barca victory their manager Pep Guardiola stated, “It was a sporting decision, as was the case with the other players who didn't play”.
Ibra has played for many other top notch clubs and he has been associated with mixed rumours of transfers to big footballing powerhouses this season; for instance Chelsea, Inter Milan, Manchester City are some to name a few.
Ibra started his career at Malmo FF where he had 40 appearances from 1999 to 2001 and scored 16 goals. From there he went to the Dutch footballing power Ajax; at Ajax he stayed from 2001 to 2004 and showed his brilliance to the world by producing 49 goals in 109 appearances. It is from here that the star picked up his world recognition and went for greater heights.
In 2004 he was transferred to Juventus and there he played till 2006. His top notch form was publicized there too as he acquired 23 goals in 69 caps. It was Inter Milan that demanded Ibrahimovic and therefore signed him in 2006. For the Nerazzurri, Ibrahimovic proved to be the golden boy often hailed as their saviour, as he took them to a new era of even more success.
Barcelona attained his services in 2009 after he served Inter Milan for 3 years in which he had 88 caps and 57 goals. Meanwhile, he has also performed superbly for Sweden; having 63 appearances and 23 goals.
