Contrary to Pep Guardiola’s beliefs, the bullish Brazilian international is defiant that the Catalan side can catch up with Real Madrid in La Liga.
The weekend saw Barcelona trim Real Madrid's lead atop the table to eight points. La Blaugrana earned their fifth consecutive victory in Spanish top flight football against a nervous Sevilla side, while Jose Mourinho’s men stumbled against a disciplined
Malaga at the Santiago Bernabeu.
With La Liga entering its final stretch, Guardiola’s men have a stiff task on their hands as they look to overcome the eight-point deficit and record their fourth consecutive league title.
Barcelona need Los Blancos to slip up and Guardiola believes the chances of such a series of events by the organized Madrid outfit look slim.
However, Brazilian international, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Dani-Alves-c9869, wants his side to fight for the title until they are mathematically out of the equation.
The former Sevilla full-back admitted that Barcelona find themselves in a precarious situation but will continue to compete in the competition. In addition, he asked the gathered audience to stop making judgements on how the squad is faring until the end
of the season.
"That is his opinion and everyone is entitled to that, but we will continue to compete."
"There is always a meaning to everything that the coach says. Ask him about what he said. We will keep fighting.”
"The gap is considerable, but tough matches are coming up for Madrid and for ourselves, and we will make an assessment only in the end," Alves said while talking to media representatives at a press conference.
On the subject of Champions League, the attack minded right-back stated that Barcelona cannot think about the possible meet-up with Real Madrid in the final and will have to take it step by step.
He remarked that they will first have to overcome the resilient AC Milan to dream further in the elite European club competition.
"It does not matter to me who we can face in the final," he noted. "We have to see off AC Milan without thinking beyond that.”
"We must be very focused and alert to prepare the tie because Milan are a very tough opponent."
Barcelona welcome the out-of-form Granada to the Camp Nou in their next La Liga encounter.
