Spanish national team coach, Vicente Del Bosque, gave the final lecture at International Coaches Conference held in La Coruna.
The 2010 FIFA World Cup winning tactician gave his views on modern day coaching and the responsibilities that come with it, in an hour long address.
In the final session of the conference, Del Bosque took to the podium and reviewed his coaching model and work with the national team, as four members of the congress listened to his insights.
The former Real Madrid player and coach talked about the importance of finding the right balance between the tactical and technical sides of the game. He stated that the coach should convince his charges before imposing his beliefs, taking into account the
significance of group effort.
Del Bosque stated that it is a common misconception that the manager has complete authority and knows everything affecting the squad.

He also reflected that delegation of authority is necessary as one man cannot handle the affairs of a group alone.
"Before it seemed like a coach knew everything but it is not true. I wanted to influence even the bread that a player had to consume and not just that. You have to delegate," he said.
In the eyes of the Champions League winner, a coach should be an exemplary figure. One who is morally upright, and earns respect from his subordinates on a regular basis, before going on to show his disdain for authoritarian coaches.
The 60-year-old believes that managers have to earn respect of their fellows and cannot claim it as their right due to their privileged position. He stated that it allows players to give their maximum for the team, a feat that cannot be achieved by authoritarianism.
The Salamanca born manager stated that the job of managers have become increasingly difficult to the immense media pressure. They have to be attentive to what is said but also the nonverbal language and gestures of players.
