La Tia completes her hat-trick in the $150,000 Arlington Oaks at Arlington Park
The three-year-old, La Tia, delivered a solid performance and claimed the victory in the Grade 3, $150,000 Arlington Oaks at Arlington Park on 21st July, 2012.
Covering a distance of 1 1/8 miles, the daughter of City Place completed her hat-trick as she finished ¾ of a length before Sky Dreamer, with the help of jockey, Constantino Roman, whereas the third place was secured by, Ire.
Things did not go as anticipated for the race favourite, Treasured Up, who entered with a 7-5 shot, and finished in sixth with rider Miguel Mena on her back.
Miguel Mena enjoyed the race but stated that Treasured Up was not at the top of her game:
"I had a good trip, but my filly never fired."
La Tia led in the early stages of the race, and Constantino Roman kept her relaxed. She was followed by Lady Candidate and Annie Russell in second and third place.

La Tia rolled the first quarter mile in 24.81 seconds, half-mile mark in 49.37 seconds, and six furlongs in 1 minute and 14.07 seconds.
The sophomore filly managed to keep the rest of the competition behind her, and completed 1 mile in 1 minute and 38.43 seconds.

Sky Dreamer, ridden by jockey Jermaine Bridgmohan, threatened her briefly but the front-runner kept her at bay and completed the race efficiently in 1 minute and 51.46 seconds.
The winning trainer, Brian Williamson, was pleased with the results of the race as he told the press that:
"She got out on the lead and ran great."
The handler appreciated the jockey’s effort and further added:
"Constantino rode her great. She was two for two on the Polytrack (here) and won both races easily, so I thought we'd keep her on the Poly and give her a shot."
La Tia, who is foaled by Sky Classic mare La Adelita, excelled because the familiarity with the synthetic surface worked in her favour.

She struggled on dirt surfaces on a number of occasions but, succeeded in the Purple Violet Stakes at Arlington Park on 16th June, 2012, when she defeated, Dolly Peach, over 1 mile in 1 minute and 38.24 seconds.
The runner now holds a record of 3-0-1 in six starts and has earnings of $182,640.
