La rioja spain - weather in september? abalos village?

we're going to barcelona in september and wanted to take a side trip to la rioja. how is the weather during that time? and has anyone stayed in abalos?

It will have fair weather, still hot during the day, but nights will be colder than in the summer.

I did a little search for you.  It took some time to find a climate site, and on the way, I found that there are many "microclimates" within Rioja (it's fairly mountainous, and you get different weather on either side of a mountain, etc.), so this might NOT be terribly accurate, but check this out:
