I've had this unit for a few years. It was connected to a router via ehternet cable. About 6 months ago it stopped powering up. It would only power up when connected to a computer via USB. So I've had it hooked up that way since then. Now tonight the blue power light began flashing quickly. I powered down the computer and the LaCie unit also powered off. Upon starting up the computer the unit would not power up. The blue power light flashed very faintly but the power button will not start it up. I had read somewhere that the power unit and/or on/off mechanism in it sometimes fails. Is there a way to repair that? Or assuming that it's dead is there is a way I can get the data off the disk? Could a professional repair man open it up and hook it up to another unit or computer and copy the data off it? Any hints or suggestions would be very appreciated. Thanks!
