LaDainian Tomlinson to part ways if New York Jets fail this Sunday – NFL News
New York Jets’ LaDainian Tomlinson has hit the stand recently by talking of his future prospectus. The running back seems unwilling to play for the Jets anymore if they fail to reach the playoffs.
So for Tomlinson, it may well be his last game with the Jets this Sunday if they lose. The Jets play the Miami Dolphins in the season’s finale and they need a win to keep alive their chances of reaching the playoffs. With a recently
slacked up performance by the quarterback Mark Sanchez and poor display of coaching skills by Brian Schottenheimer, the chances of a defeat cannot be completely ruled out.
Tomlinson has said that he would be playing football but would need to consult his family and agent before deciding his future team. Tomlinson’s two year contract ends with the Jets this season and he will be a free agent soon.
So chances of Tomlinson playing with the Jets seem low as he seems intent on joining any other team in case of a loss this Sunday.
“I’m going to wait and see what happens. I would love to keep playing, but if the situation is not right, then I won’t. This possibly could be my last game.” Tomlinson said.
However, there are no chances of a retirement as he maintained that he will be playing football.
"I'm open to anything," he said. "It doesn't have to be here. It could be another place. I'm just open to playing football."
The running back boasts of 13,628 rushing yards to his credit in his career. He needs a mere 35 yards for the fifth position in NFL’s career list. At present Jerome Bettis is ahead of him by just 35 yards. Tomlinson has 224 yards
of rushing this season.
Further speaking on his availability in future, he hinted that he may not be able to play at the NFL’s veteran-minimum salary saying it would be hard for him to do that and spoke of having kids.
The 32-year old player has spent nine seasons playing for the San Diego Chargers and it was his desire to be in a champion’s team that he opted to be with the Jets in 2010.
“I played this game a long time,” he said. “I don’t want to go to someone that’s going to lose every week. That’s not going to be fun.”
That explains why Tomlinson would be reluctant to play for the Jets if they fail to be the winning side.
