LaDainian Tomlinson unsure about future; needs more time to decide – NFL News
New York Jets’ LaDainian Tomlinson doesn’t have much to say about his future recently after the Jets humiliating 19-17 loss to the Miami Dolphins.
The game that saw the Jets silenced after their outbursts against the Newel York Giants and then later with claims of winning the Super Bowl also has Tomlinson’s lip sealed for the time being.
Tomlinson just a few days back had made news by talking of his future prospects. He appeared unwilling to play for the Jets if they failed to reach the playoffs. And now that has happened. This was hence probably the last game
Tomlinson played with the Jets. The Jets needed to win against the Dolphins to reach the playoffs but they lost, thus throwing them out of the playoff race.
“I’m going to wait and see what happens. I would love to keep playing, but if the situation is not right, then I won’t. This possibly could be my last game.” Tomlinson said earlier on.
He had also said that he would consult his family and agent before coming to a final conclusion.
The running back has completed his 11th NFL season of which earlier nine seasons were spent with the San Diego Chargers. Since Tomlinson aspired to be in a winning team, he had opted to join the New York Jets two years back by
signing a two-year agreement with the Jets. And now it is this same desire that makes him opt for another team that looks like winning.
Many would call Tomlinson an opportunistic over his endeavours but he has completed his second season with the Jets, thus ending the two-year contract he had signed with the Jets.
However, Tomlinson is not sure of anything as yet and wants more time in coming to a final decision which could either be three weeks or even four weeks.
“We just need to see what happens, because that will determine if I continue to play. Right now, I'm emotional. I don't want to make an emotional decision if I'm going to play or not. That's not fair to my family and everyone who
knows me. I just need to take time to calm down and get my thought process back right." Tomlinson said.
The 32-year old player has 13,628 rushing yards in his career and is just short of 35 yards to attain the fifth position in NFL’s career list. This season, Tomlinson has had 224 yards of rushing to his credit.
