LaMarcus Aldridge carries Portland Trail Blazers to a 101-88 win against New Jersey Nets – NBA Recap

LaMarcus Aldridge scored 24 points and grabbed 9 rebounds to lead the Portland Trail Blazers to 13 point win against the New Jersey Nets here at the Rose Garden in Portland.
New Jersey had a 3 point lead, 85-82, with 6:50 remaining in the game but Portland went on a 19-3 run to finish the game 101-88.
Portland led 21-17 at the end of the 1st quarter, and after a couple of lead exchanges, reeled off a 11-nothing run to grab a comfortable 42-32 lead with 3:14 remaining in the half. New Jersey responded with a12-4 run
to finish the 1st half, trailing at 44-46.
The Trail Blazers missed 4 field goal attempts and 1 free throw during the Nets run late in the 1st half.
The Nets started the 2nd half strong with a dunk by Kris Humphries to tie the game at 46. But from there on, the Nets went 1 of 15 from the field, not recording a point till 04:57 were left in the quarter. This allowed
the Trail Blazers to go on an 18-2 run; achieving a 64-48 lead with 05:28 left in the 3rd. Nets outscored Portland 16-8 in the ensuing quarter, finishing it at 64-74.
New Jersey came back with a bang in the 4th quarter when Kris Humphries fit 2 free throws, followed by a 3 point play by Anthony Morrow. Morrow was then fouled while attempting a 3-pointer and went to the free throw
line for 3 attempts. He nailed all three.
Humphries then put in a jump shot to cap off a 10-2 run by the Nets. New Jersey continued their offensive momentum to score another 11 points while holding Portland to just 4, and took the lead 85-82 with 06:50 left in the game.
But from here on, things started going downwards for the Nets as they went 0-of-11 to close the game. They were only able to make three free throws in the last 6:50 seconds of the game. Portland capitalized to go on a 19-3 run
to close the game and won 101-88.
Nicolas Batum had 20 points, 10 rebounds. He was 4 of 8 from 3-point range while J.J. Hickson came off the bench with 18 points, going 7 of 10 from the field.
Portland shot 50% from beyond the arc and 45.7% from the field. The Nets had an ordinary day from the field, shooting 37.2%. Kris Humphries led them with 21 points, 11 rebounds and a perfect 7 for 7 from the free throw line.
Anthony Morrow and Gerald Green combined for 40 points – 20 apiece - from the bench for New Jersey. Gerald Wallace went 3 for 12 from the field and MarShon Brooks made only 2 points after playing for 29:36.
New Jersey has now lost 2 in a row and are 4-6 in their last 10 games.
