LaMarcus Aldridge named the Western Conference Player of the Week
Portland Trail Blazers forward LaMarcus Aldridge has been named as the Western Conference player of the week for the games played from February 07 to February 13, 2011.
LaMarcus Aldridge led the Portland Trail Blazers to wins in all the three games from February 07 to February 13. Dwight Howard was names as the Eastern Conference winner. He helped Orlando Magic win three games out of four they played in the week.
Portland Trail Blazers LaMarcus Aldridge scored his career high 42 points against Chicago Bulls on February 7th. With eight rebound and two steals, he snatched the victory for his team beating Chicago Bulls 109-103. He was shooting with amazing hands. He stated after the match, “Maybe back in high school, when everybody was 5-foot and I was 6-9."
Against Toronto Raptors he scored amazing 37 points and 10 rebounds helping Portland win over Toronto Raptors 102-96. On February 13th game against Detroit Pistons LaMarcus scored 36 points, four rebounds and three assists as Portland Trail Blazers beat Detroit Pistons with 105-100. He was so overwhelmed with his performance as he stated “The opportunity came and I've been doing well in this role. My teammates believed in me, the coaches believed in me and I'm just trying to play this role to a 'T'"
Portland Trail Blazers’ Head coach Nate McMillan appreciated his contribution and said, “The numbers have been consistent. The important thing with LaMarcus is he continues to stay hungry, continues to go out and work. (Despite) not making that All-Star team, he hasn't dropped off in his play."
LaMarcus Aldridge scored 115 points 22 rebounds in total against Chicago Bulls, Toronto Raptors and Detroit Pistons. The power forward playing his best with Portland Trail Blazers. He emerged as young sensation when he was selected in NBA All Rookie first team in 2007. Completing his four years of professional Basketball player he is now well tuned for his future. With Portland Trail Blazers his current season’s average is 22.1 points and 9.00 rebounds per game. Portland Trail Blazers currently holds the 6th position in overall standings in Western Conference.
Charlotte Bobcats’ Gerald Wallace, Chicago Bulls’ Derrick Rose, Indiana Pacers’ Danny Granger, Los Angeles Lakers’ Kobe Bryant, Phoenix Suns’ Steve Nash and San Antonio Spurs’ DeJuan Blair were the other nominees for the Eastern and Western Conference players of the week.
