Question:

Lab in Season - just finished??

I have an 11 month old lab called Hollie, who has just had her first season. We are now in to the 4th week, and she has stopped bleeding and her behaviour is back to normal. My only concern is that her lady bits still look quite big, and visible. Should this be the case?

Sorry for asking silly questions, was at the vet last week for a checkup and is fine - eating well, lively, etc.

Thanks!

  1. Once the dog stops bleeding it will still take a little bit for the swelling to go down. I would suggest getting the dog spayed before it's next heat cycle. It will be better on her and you, so you don't get any unwanted/unneeded litters

  2. They can take a couple of months to return to normal

  3. Yeah thats normal. Two of my dogs still have season and it takes a little while for their lady bits to go smaller again. One of my other dogs was spayed after four months but I was a baby then but I think two months is good.

  4. hiya, they always go like that,it lasts about 2 weeks then it should have gone down.

  5. To answer your question-- she has basically gone through canine 'puberty'.  She will look a bit different than she did before her season.  Her female parts will be even fuller when she is in season and basically return to what they look like now.

  6. i suggest getting her spayed
