I have a 9 month old labrador retiver and he has sever allergies.

He has a bacterial infection under his arms, inflamed ears, and pink eye.

He cannot eat meat, meat based products, treats, or any other food accept potatoes, carrots, and his hypo allergenic food.

Also he does not like his food and it is the only thing he can eat.

Is there ANYTHING that i can do to help this dog?

THANK YOU!

  1. HI DAD!

  2. Well hopefully you've been taking him to the vet to treat all the infections and ears, if not you HAVE to go. My first suggestion is to try small doses of Benadryl (25mg) following the directions on the label for how often a day. I normally wouldn't recommend this first but your case sounds severe. Also, whatever shampoo you use on him, stop. ONLY use a purely oatmeal unscented shampoo. When you bath him, lather him up really good and let it sit for at least 5mins. Oatmeal is naturally soothing and it will make him feel better, plus the unscented makes sure no chemicals are irritating him. And how do you know he can't eat meat? Have you given him meat like people eat or was it in the dog food you used to buy? It sounds like you home-make him food and some of his skin problems could be because you are not giving him the right variety of food so that he gets all his nutrients. If you home-make because he had reactions to regular dog food then you can subsitute the protein in meat with hard boiling eggs and crushing them up in the food (shells and all) instead. Eggs are a great source of protein. You can also fill Kong balls with peanut butter which will give him more protein too (but only do this every so often as a treat). Also, go to the pet store and buy him to doggie vitamins to crush up in  his food. Having the right amount of vitamins will help his immune system for kicking the infections and fighting allergies. I also suggest going to your grocery store and buying fish oil capsules. Break these open too and squeeze them on his food. Fish oil is really good for their skin and coat. These few things, vitamins, fish oil, oatmeal shamp, and Benadryl should really help him. And I hope it does because I'm sure he's miserable.

  3. I have a 2yr old lab with allergies as well... I feed him Avorderm, its an all natural food and he loves... it seems like he's allergies has gone away alot. You should try it.

  4. My Lab suffers from allergies. The vet has put her on an immunotherapy vaccine, she has monthly injections of it. Also I have antihistamines so when the allergies flare up she has a 10 day course of tablets to help calm it down.

She gets eye and ear infections regularly, but the drops that the vet gives her helps to clear it up.

Ask the vet about the injections and antihistamines if he's not already having them, they may help.

  5. the vet will help you

  6. Are you definitely sure that its an Allergy??

Because some mites can cause these inflamed areas,as you said it was basically his face & limbs. If you are sure then this website is good:      http://www.healthypetcorner.com/

This site might have some treatments,i use this site quite a lot with my pets & the treatments suggested are great! Also have you visited the vets? They might be able to help your dog.

Hope this helps & your dog is treated! x*x
