Labtop internet to wireless?

I am trying to get my labtop to go to wireless, Im hooked up to my wireless network which works for everyone elses computer, right now im using a cable to connect to the internet. how do I switch to wireless?

First, unplug the cable. Then make sure your wireless adapter is on (for laptops, there usually is a switch somewhere). Then go to Connect to a Network and find your wireless router. Be aware that you'll need your WEP or WPA key if you've got passwod protected your wireless router.

Follow the installation procedure for the wireless sepup for the router

Check Does your laptop supports wireless connection , if so check all the parameters are correct. (refer to installation guide)
