Lacey Locke dominates Women’s 200m backstroke heats: Day two – 2012 Mutual of Omaha Swimvitational
Lacey Locke of Carmel Swim Club dominated the qualification rounds of Women’s 200m backstroke on day two of the 2012 Mutual of Omaha Swimvitational in Nebraska on Saturday, June 9.
The 17-year-old Locke met expectations of her supports by snaring the top qualification spot of the distant backstroke discipline. She demonstrated her gruelling efforts and faced no difficulty in occupying the top qualification spot of the discipline.
With her continued efforts, Locke paved her way to the finishing wall with the timing of 2 minutes and 17.44 seconds.
She remained full body length away from her following swimmer, Hannah Ross of Wisconsin Aquatics, who emerged on the finishing end as second best swimmer by producing a time of 2 minutes and 18.36 seconds.
Third finest qualification spot of the discipline was secured by Ashley Leclair of Lakeside Swim Team, who was 0.28 seconds apart and transpired on the finishing blockade with the timing of 2 minutes and 18.64 seconds.
Similarly, Leclair was chased by Ellen Suek of Team Foxjet-MN, who was only 0.21 seconds apart and made her way to the finishing end by submitting a time of 2 minutes and 18.85 seconds.
On the other hand, the audience witnessed exhausting efforts of Cory Chitwood of University of Arizona in the Men’s 200m backstroke.
The 23-year-old Chitwood remained marginally faster from his following swimmer and occupied the fastest qualification spot with the timing of 2 minutes and 04.68 seconds.
His scintillating effort remained 0.04 seconds faster from Matthew Grevers of Tucson Ford Deal, who earned second best qualification spot of the race by reporting an effort of 2 minutes and 04.72 seconds.
Grevers was chased by William van Dehy of RallySport Aquatics, who suffered a deficit of 0.24 seconds and hit the finishing wall with an effort of 2 minutes and 04.96 seconds.
Fourth position of the event was secured by Sean Lehane of Academy Bullets, who was only 0.02 seconds apart and clocked a timing of 2 minutes and 04.98 seconds for fourth position.
In addition, these contestants will contend each other in the final round of their exclusive events to secure the podium.
