The Ivorian striker has assured Anzhi Makhachkala fans of learning from Samuel Eto’o and has watered down his comparison with Zenit St. Petersburg’s striker
Lacina Traore became an instant hit in the Anzhi Makhachkala side after scoring the winning goal in his debut against Kuban Krasnodar at Stadion Dynamo (Makhachkala) in July.
It took the Ivorian striker just 43 minutes to open his goal scoring account after signing from Kuban Krasnodar for a reported 20 million Euros fee. Traore signed a three-year contract with the Dagestani club after completing
a move during the summer transfer window.
Guus Hiddink, who joined the Russian outfit this summer, made Traore his first signing after taking the managerial charge at the Makhachkala-based club.
The Dutch tactician went on to sign Lassana Diarra and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jan-Holenda-c17764 and Benoit Angbwa to Krylia Sovetov Samara this summer.
And while most of the football pundits have found similarities between Traore and Zenit St. Petersburg’s http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/CFR-Cluj-c38778 attacker has himself poured water on such comparisons.
“I don’t think that I'm more like him. I can pass the ball and wait for my chance at a good position. I will prefer to pass the ball to a teammate than to go all alone to beat the keeper. I keep on working hard until I get a goal.”
The Romanian Cup winner was quoted as saying.
Traore enjoyed a decent spell at the Krasnodar prior to making a move to the Wild-division as he netted 18-times in his debut season in the Russian Premier League. However, the former Stade d’Abidjan player still believes there
is room for improvement.
The 22-year-old went on to praise Samuel Eto’o, saying that he is constantly learning from the experienced Cameroonian striker.
“I am loving life at my new club and it is a privilege to play alongside such a big football player like Eto'o. He always tries to pass the ball unselfishly and like to play pass and move. I think this makes him a great player.”
He concluded.
As things stand, Traore has scored five goals while Eto’o has found the back of the net six-times this season.
