There is a little girl I know... and she is just turning 5 years old. Do you think she is too old for these? http://www.fatbraintoys.com/toy_companies/eeboo/friendly_bugs_lacing_cards.cfm They say age three and up. Is she already past this? I would say she's probably average for her age. (Oh, and if you think she is, please say so! I'm just wondering, it won't mess anything up for me to not have this work out! Lol.)

  1. Children are just so different that it is hard to say if she is past them or not.  My son is 6 years old (in 2 days he will be) and he still enjoys doing them sometimes and they work his fine motor skills and help with learning to lace shoes and is the first step to learning to sew but if she already ties her shoes and is more of an active child she may not like them.

  2. No a young five year old is not too old for lacing cards.  My son finished kindergarten last year.  They do lacing cards in kindergarten.  I think that the lacing cards are age appropriate for a child turning 5.

  3. Why make such a big deal out of it??

Is she up to speed with everything else?? If so, leave it be.

  4. I say if the kid likes playing with it what is the big deal. I seriously think there is nothing that someone is "too old" for! I love puzzles or games that say ages 8-80 or something like that. We are all are kids at heart.

I homeschool my kids and bought some nice lacing cards that were shaped like letters. My kids all loves these from like age 2 - 8 or even higher. lol What is the harm? As long as the child is having fun and enjoying themselves and most of all not hurting anyone let the child be a child and have fun.

Plus think about it what 5yr old girl wouldn't LOVE sewing like mommy?
