Lack of bank guarantees delay Roma’s move for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Maarten-Stekelenburg-c22998: Serie A news
Maarten Stekelenburg’s protracted move to A.S Roma has dealt another hitch as the Dutch club have declined to approve the deal because of lack of bank guarantees provided by the Italian outfit.
The two clubs have agreed on a price for the goalkeeper and the player has undergone medical as well but Ajax are demanding more security over the payments. The Amsterdam based club have a bad experience over recovery of payments
from Italian sides and they are willing to take no risks this time.
Sporting Director, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Danny-c10193 Blind, has admitted that he cannot finalize the deal without sufficient guarantees and will wait until the Giallorossi can provide it.
Talking to the reporters Blind said, "It's impossible for us to give this transfer the green light without the bank guarantee. We're not setting any deadlines, though. We do not begrudge Maarten his move.”
The transfer saga of Stekelenburg’s move to Rome is continuing for the past two months and the two clubs could not agree on a price for the past few weeks. They finally agreed on a fee in the region of 5.5-million-Euros and the
player was almost certain to complete his move today.
Despite re-signing shot-stopper, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Doni-c11553. The Brazilian left the Giallorossi to
join former English Champions, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809, this summer.
Ajax too are willing to finalise the deal as soon as possible, as the goalkeeper is in the final year of his contract at the Amsterdam Arena and they cannot risk losing him on a free transfer next summer. The 28-year-old’s transfer
has been subject of huge media speculation, as several reports have also linked him with a move to English Premier League giants, Manchester United and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429, throughout the summer.
Stekelenburg started his professional career from the youth system of Ajax in 2002 and quickly established himself as a main stay in the first team of the club. The 28-year-old has made 282 appearances for Ajax in his almost nine
year career at the club.
