Former Liverpool forward, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Dirk-Kuyt-c11348, revealed that his lack of involvement on the field in the prevenient term forced him into making an exit from Anfield.
The Dutch International also said that his decision of decamping from Merseyside was one of the most difficult ones that he had taken during his career, and accused former manager, Kenny Dalglish, for treating him unjustly.
Kuyt signed a three-year deal with the Turkish side, Fenerbache, in June for an estimated transfer fee of 1 million Euros. Although the prolific forward once carried key position in the Reds line-up, he was demoted to the bench by Dalglish last season and
often came on as a late substitute.
What was even more disappointing for the Dutchman was the fact that he was overlooked ahead of the likes of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jordan-Henderson-c19102, who were later termed by many as Liverpool’s biggest flops of the season.
All in all, Kuyt made 286 appearances for the Merseyside club and notched up 71 goals.
Speaking of his decision of parting ways with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809, the attacker admitted it was one of the most difficult ones that he had undertaken.
However, he accused Dalglish of ignoring him for a place in the starting line-up regularly and cited it as the major reason behind his exodus.
“It was hard. The last season wasn’t as I had expected it. I wanted to be more involved,” he told the reporters.
“The season before, I was the team’s top scorer and the player with the most assists, but new players came in and my time on the pitch was less than expected.”
Since the arrival of Brendan Rodgers in June, much was expected from Liverpool to get the things right again following their abysmal showing in the previous term.
However, results wise, not much has changed for the Anfield team, as they have struggled miserably to put points on the table.
The 32-year old, nonetheless, called upon the fans and supporters to exercise patience with the Northern Irishman, and was confident that he will be able to pull the team out of their current slump.
“You can see the team needs a little more time. Hopefully the supporters and everyone gives them a bit of time because Brendan is a great coach,” he added.
