Lack of preparation no excuse for poor performance: Jacob Oram – Cricket News Update
New Zealand all-rounder http://www.senore.com/Cricket/JDP-Oram-c1681 is of the view that while his side could have benefitted from a pre-tour training camp or some warm-up matches, the lack of preparation is not an excuse for the poor performances they displayed during the initial part of
their ongoing tour of the United States and the West Indies.
“It would have been nice to have an extra 10 days or a week somewhere so that ... that period of finding our feet had actually occurred during a camp and during some warm-up games as opposed to our first hit-out being a Twenty20 international against the
West Indies in Miami,” said Oram. “However that wasn't the case and that's not an excuse for playing poorly. We should have been ready.”
New Zealand got off to a disappointing start of the tour, and were completely overshadowed by their hosts. They started off by losing the T20I series in Florida, 0-2, before suffering defeats in the first two matches of the 5-match ODI series that followed
in the Caribbean.

last played together in March this year, during a series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757, after which they spent roughly 3 months inactive, before jumping straight into the Caribbean tour.
In addition to the lack of match practice, head coach http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 prior to the series, but been turned down by the board on grounds of budget constraints. However, both Wright
and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Buchanan-c48808 admitted that these were not excuses for the performances the team had put up.
Despite their slow start, however, the Kiwis appear to be finding their ground, as they recently claimed an emphatic 88-run win over the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760 in the 3rd ODI of the series, played at Warner Park in Basseterre, St Kitts on July 11.
The victory brought the series score up to 2-1, and according to Oram, the Black Caps are concentrating on staying grounded in order to attempt a repeat of their performance in the 4th match of the series, due to be played on July 14 at the same
stadium.
“... we're trying to not get too far off the ground because if we don't win the fourth game then the fifth one doesn't really matter,” Oram said.
