Lacoste Ladies Open De France 2012: Lydia Hall ties for second position in first round
Lydia Hall of Wales remained resolute in the opening round of Lacoste Ladies Open De France 2012 as she fired a 66 to take the second position along with three other competitors.
Hall’s game looked more perfect than before because easily faced a line-up packed with competent players like Spanish Azahara Munoz and Diana Luna of Italy.
The Welsh star is standing tied with French duo Virginie Lagoutte-Clement and Sophie Giquel-Bettan and Munoz, who also shot a 66 each.
The nerve-shattering first round saw a tough battle among most of the top-ranked stars, but Australian Stacey Keating outrivaled every contender on the leaderboard as she posted a 62 to seize
an early lead.
Hall impressed the spectators at Chantaco Golf Club, Aquitaine, France, as she opened the round with a birdie. She then parred the next hole and sank another birdie on the difficult par-3
third hole.
Commentators said that Hall is performing well these days and her solid form is nothing unusual. They added the star golfer has been adept at fixing flaws and improving different aspects of
her game.
Hall’s surprise performance did not halt as she was firm to put her name on top of the leaderboard. She bogeyed the 6th hole but diluted its impact after she launched an eagle on
the par-5 7th.
Hall is coming off a very solid start in the current season as she won the title at ISPS Handa Ladies British Masters, held in August.
Sharing her thoughts with the media at the end of the round, Hall said she was confident after getting off to a good start in the opening round, but said she could done even better, keeping
in mind the favourable conditions on the course.
“I definitely like this style of course. I can be fairly aggressive and the greens are in fantastic condition as well,” Hall said and added she found it a bit difficult to manoeuvre the ball
on the putting green as it posed a challenge due to some difficult holes.
“They are very tricky: the greens are quick, so I had a couple of three-putts out there today. I played very solid, hit 17 greens, 10 fairways, so I think I missed only one fairway and played
really solid,” she shared.
