Lacquer sanding for guitar?

hey what would be a good grit that i should use to sand lacquer off my guitar and is there any technique i could use to give the body a smooth finnish

    Results will defnitely vary.


  2. if you are trying to refinish the guitar, take down the existing lacquer with 220 grit until you just get to bare wood. use a tack cloth to remove dust. use 400 grit to even out the surface. go to 600 grit if you want it smoother. use a sanding block to keep the flat surfaces level. you will get the smoothest surface with spray lacquer, musical instrument grade.
