Ladies, do you enjoy playing video games?

Question

If so, of what nature are they? (fantasy, fighting, racing, etc.)

For fun, you can add your console and game of choice if you want.

Mine:

console: Super Nintendo ...I keep it old school

game: Mortal Kombat: Deception for xbox (just in case you haven't figured out my MK obsession quite yet)

If not, why don't you enjoy them? What would you rather do instead of playing video games? What type of game would have to be released for you to enjoy playing video games?

There was a question asked previously and a few answerers have said that women don't make up the majority of the gaming population. While I agree, I am curious to know just how many of us enjoy video games of any sort.

I am 42 and got  a PS3 for christmas from my husband and kids.  I stink at games but I like adventure games.  Sometimes my son will bring out his x box, set me up, and take me out in the first 5 seconds.  That is why I do not play shooting or driving games!  It is a great stress relief!

Yes, I love playing video games. There are some types I don't particularly care for such as sports games but for most of the others, I do enjoy playing them.

I started out playing arcade games. I got to be very good at Space Invaders, Donkey Kong, Donkey Kong Jr., Q-Bert, and Frogger.

I think girls can only really get into Nintendo especially the Mario Brother series.

Heck yeah, I LOVE fighting games like mortal combat, super street fighter-special championship edition(on sega)...on Super Nintendo I like super bomber man...regular Nintendo- Super Mario 3...playstation 2 I like

Yes, I like to play Video Games - some fantasy, but mostly sport like games.  

My boyfriend has X-box and playstation 2, so I always like to play Worms, Fable, Mortal Kombat does rock!!, some Halo (although I always end up running into walls and shooting the wrong things), and Guitar Hero.  He owns a pretty awesome Zombie game, but I can't remember the name right now.  

I own a Nintendo Game Cube, and always, always, always play Animal Crossings - that game is seriously addicting, and I'm sad to say that I thoroughly enjoy The Sims - although SimCity rocks far beyond The Sims - as well as Donkey Bongos - so much fun especially with a group of people, and what's cool about Game Cube is you can get all the Mario games nowadays, and I even own a Sonic game.

Yea I so do..I play my DS, Wii, Playstation & lots of other hand helds like sudoku etc...my fave games r...Mario Party 8, Big Brain, Diner Dash, Tetris, Breakout, Poker games & lots lots more...I even like Grand Turismo, even though i suck at it LOL

I'm not female, but I felt like answering.

I'm more of a sports guy. I play any game in the FIFA series by EA Sports. Always World Class difficulty. If you haven't got the reflexes, world class is too much. I'm glad to say that I do have the reflexes. (PC versions)

I also play Burnout 3 on my XBox, and the entire Commandos series on my PC.

Gaming rocks! Nothing like it!

im not sure i like a perticular genre. The games I have for my DS are nintendogs, more brain training, the simpsons game, pippa funnel & sonic rush (i dont like sonic rush because i cant figure out what the h**l im meant to do on it

I've played a little of everything because my big sister and dad loved games and we owned a lot of consoles at one time from atari and NES to wii xbox 360 and ps3. My sister plays MMO and fps games.

I like the newer Final Fantasy games, starcraft, world of warcraft, morrowind and old school Super Mario Brothers on NES and I loved Mortal Kombat I & II on sega.

My sister played World of illusion and streets of rage on the sega mega drive (euro for sega genesis), but she wouldnt get a console or pc game of her own and hasne played in years.

Just like with anything else men brought up, girls were first scared, then repulsed, then confused, then belittled the men involved in it and only as the product starts to enter a certain stage of maturity a few of them jump aboard.

In other words, while video games have been around for 30 years or so, only recently did women stop calling the guys into it nerds and the like and joined the fray themselfs.

A similiar pattern was observed for space travel by the way.

I love playing video games. So much so, that when my husband wanted to buy me a Wii for Christmas, I asked him not to, knowing that it would absorb all my time and put very little into my children. As for types, I just play whatever is available, because I will not buy my own since I know how much I neglect the rest of my life to play!

I love video games! I actually met my boyfriend of 4 years through an MMORPG game online ^^;

I love RPGs, simulation/strategy, FPS, etc

I prefer PC games as I have invested a lot of money into making my system awesome. I also own Wii, Xbox360, and PS2 (hope to get PS3 soon!) I used to have super nintendo and sega genesis, but those consoles broke a long time ago.

Some of my favorite games: The Sims 2, Bioshock, Gears of War, Final Fantasy series of games.

Yes, I enjoy playing video games. I like action horror games like Resident Evil and Silent Hill, and also Grand Theft Auto. Really, I like all sorts of video games except sports ones. I just don't think they're that fun.

My favorite...

Xbox 360:  Oblivion. Adore it. It's a problem solving, role playing you create your own character and build their strengths and personality, fantasy game.

I dont like the war bang bang shoot them kind of games...like something with a little more thinking.  There are very few problem solving, games that are somewhat interactive.  i dislike the go here, go here, go here, go here types...want it more realistic were i decide what to do.

I've been a gamer since I was a kid. I remember when I was really little we all use to play on my eldest brother's Atari.

I still have my old  Nintendo 64, which the hubby and I play Donkey Kong on a lot, but I've been through them all. Atari, Sega, Nintendo, Playstation, Gamecube, etc.

We have a couple of Xbox's now. We don't get to play on them often, what with the family and everything but the nieces and nephew play on them constantly.

There is always lots of Call of Duty and Halo being played at my house.

I got into Oblivion while I was pregnant. It gave me something to keep my mind on while I was hanging at the house.

Honestly, there are more guy gamers than girl gamers but there are a lot more girls who play video games than one would expect. I could probably name off at least 50 that I either personally know or have played with online.

Girl gamers is a fast growing population of people and it has been for at least the last ten years.

I actually prefer computer games. I like adventure and puzzle-type games (e.g. the Myst series).

2 reasons I don't play console games much - they don't tend to have as many games available in the genres I like. And with a computer, you don't have to keep buying a new console, nor are you limited by the brand of your computer (unless of course you own a Mac).

i almost hate to admit this but i play video games everyday for hours at a time. they are so addicting to me and i love to play any puzzle or marble popper games. i love word games also. but my favorite is hidden object games. as i say , i play alot of them for a long time. I am partically disabled in my back so i am at home alot and thats why i play so much as far as time goes but i do love to play them too. get in touch and we'll play spades sometimes. lol
