clothing that has their logo on it?

A lot of times when I wear a shirt with a sports team on it, someone will ask me how the team is doing this year and I don't have an answer ( unless it's Michigan, then I'll follow them). Do you think I should have to know? Should you even have to be a fan of the team? Explain why or why not?

  1. No, not at all, we have enough to do, caring for the house, the hubby, children, (if we have any), that includes the one we married. If you're not a fan of the sport why should you waste time with the details. Wear the shirt, & if they ask, just tell them you don't know.

  2. Well generally, if you wear a sports team's logo, you're an assumed fan of that team.  And fans of sports teams generally know how the team is doing that year.

  3. Maybe you're wearing that shirt because all your others are in the wash, or because you like the colours. It's none of their business why, really.

  4. nope, if we had to and were tested the sales would plummet...

  5. Well, frankly, yes.  If you are to wear official NFL/NCAA attire you should be familiar with basic information about the team otherwise you will appear silly (unless you are really hot).  When one wears a Brian Urlacher #54 Jersey, I assume that we can have a serious discussion on the upcoming season.

It's sort of like wearing a shirt that says I'm an expert in Quantum Mechanics and then not having a clue about it.  It makes you seem foolish (unless you're hot like Rihanna).  Rihanna can wear whatever she wants.

  6. It's whatever you want.  It shouldn't matter whether you know or don't know.  If you enjoy the logo of the sport and just like representing the team that represents your city or state, that's fine.  If you enjoy watching that team play as well, that's fine.  There's no reason you should ahve to know everythign about the team unless you are genuinely interested.

  7. It's just a shirt.

Once I was in the gym and a guy (who was fresh out of the Marine corps)  got mad because some other guy had a Marines shirt but hadn't ever served. An older guy who happened to be a vet calmed the younger guy down, but the whole thing was kind of ridiculous. It wasn't going to be a fight or anything, but it was still kind of stupid.

  8. Not at all.

Look, there is always going to be someone who knows more about a team or a band or a book than you do.  Its not a contest as to who knows more about a subject, but so many people want to prove to you that they are more 'into' whatever it is than you. Its like they want to 'out-fan' you.  And get smug if you get a stat wrong.

I personally love The Ramones.  I've got most of the CD's, and I listen to them frequently.  I once wore my Ramones T-shirt, and ended up being criticized for not having ever watched the movies they made.  The guy told me that I couldn't wear their shirt because I wasn't a 'true fan'.   Its ridiculous.

Enjoy wearing your shirt, and don't worry about people who want to  turn  your interest in the team into a competition.

  9. You should have some basic knowledge of the team. That way you can use your shirt can be used as an icebreaker to dwell on other subjects.

Other than that, no reason to have any knowledge about the sports shirt you are wearing.
