Ladies, help with a question about pierced ears?

Have any of you had, or known someone who has had, a problem with only one ear where the pierced area gets red and a little irritated? It is just one ear, so I do not think it can be the material of the earring. When the earrings are out for a few days, the hole gets red and the lobe gets a little red as well. It does not hurt, but it looks like it should be sore. Any help you can offer would be great. Thank you!

  1. Whatever you do don't put peroxide or rubbing alcohol or any of that other jazz in your piercing.  It will only irritate your ears.

When I was stretching my ears my left ear was typically the "problem child".  I don't think it is unusual at all to have problems with just one ear and not the other.  Were your ears pierced with a gun or a needle? If they were pierced with a gun there is a lot of scar tissue involved and the ear that is getting irritated might have more scar tissue than the other.  If your ears were pierced by a lisenced piercer, go back and have them take a look.

Definitly clean the h**l out of your jewelry, it is totally safe to use rubbing alcohol for that (just make sure you rinse it off really well before you put it back in).  For the piercings themselves, wash them with fragrance-free soap and try doing a sea salt soak on the irritated side.  Sea salt soaks work wonders on irritated piercings.  You could also massage some vitamin E oil into the piercings, that will soften them up and ease up the irritation.

    Good luck!

  2. It could be infected. Make sure you are cleaning your ears at least twice a day and after you shower to clean away any shampoo. Don't touch your ears. Also, you may want to take the studs out and clean them in your earring cleaning solution.

  3. disinfectant it if you just recently got them done go back to the shop and get them to look at it

  4. This happened to me. I took my earing out and soaked it in Alcohol and then cleaned my ear really good with peroxide. Soak the earring over night. Clean your ear when you take the earring out and then before you put it back in. I had to do this for about a week.
