Ladies, pick the diamond you would prefer out of these three and help a guy out!?

Please put me out of my misery :) I'm not listing prices because they are somewhat similar and don't matter at this point.

1.38 - Ideal - E - SI2 - EX polish - VG symmetry - 62.4 depth - 59 Table

1.20 - Ideal - H - VS2 - EX polish - EX symmetry -62.2 depth - 58 Table

1.27 - Ideal - F - SI1 - VG polish - EX symmetry - 60.5 depth - 60 Table

Why is it so hard?

Because I really want to get the 1.38 carat. Not only that, but the color is better and the polish is equal.

The SI clarity just scares me a bit...and the fact that the color goes down to H (for the middle one) doesn't help either. Help me so I can sleep tonight.

  1. Put pictures up!! It would be easier that way..but if you like the 1.38...get that one...u seem to lean more towards that onee...good luck!

  2. I can tell you how I felt when I was thinking about possibilities for my engagement ring. I was happily willing to sacrifice perfect clarity for a bigger diamond!!!!!!!! I mean, unless there is a BUG stuck inside the diamond, nobody will notice slight inclusions. But everyone will notice the bigger diamond!!!!!!!!! Plus, looking for inclusions in the stone is one of the top 3 ways to determine if the stone is real. No false stone has inclusions!

  3. I don't know, but I was rather practical.  I didn't want my husband spending much on the ring, since I wouldn't wear it much, anyway, due to they tear gloves.  Mine was $99.  As far as all that stuff you posted, I have no idea what's what.

  4. Honey, put yourself out of your missery LOK AT THE DIAMONDS!

If there is anything visible that obstructs the shine, move on to the next...

From th info you've given me, I'd go with the third, but that's without SEEING the actual diamond....

Just so you know.... My ring is .86-Very Good-E-I2....don't know about the rest....

    But I LOVE it!

I can't see anything but beautiful sparkles, and get compliments on it all the time....

If it looks beautiful, then why worry about all the internal stuff that can't be seen unless you are a professional jewler....

Seriously... Get the one you want, if it looks good...

  5. I would go with the 1.20 ct-- to me clarity is better becuase thats what makes the sparkle. I wouldn't want one that was cloudy. that .18 of a ct wouldnt make a big difference one the diamond was that large anyway. Plus the more it sparkles the bigger it looks and H color isnt hateful. Good luck and Congrats.

  6. I don't see any rings.

  7. What you have to understand is that anything over a carat and the SI flaws can be seen easier.  Aren't there any other diamonds you can pick?  Can you find a smaller carat, but exceptional diamond?

For example mine is a 1 carat Ideal D - VS1 diamond, and it looked a lot better than larger diamonds with SI1's and SI2's that were D's.

I would honestly go for the 1.27 F.  The color's still good and there's only one flaw.

  8. I think you should choose the third one - the 1.27 with F color

seems the best choice & a "compromise" between the other two.

  9. i am a woman of 45.. i have never had a diamond because i have never wanted one..i can`t see wasting money on something that is only going to set on a finger and depreciate as soon as you walk out the door with it.. is does nothing.. you can`t drive it anywhere....

  10. Call or visit the jeweler & give him your price range/specs.

Propose to your girl, take her to the jeweler.  Let her choose the ring that she will treasure for the rest of her life.

I understand that you want to get the best your money can buy.  But that's not all there is to it.

  11. Seem like your hung up on a ring. If thats what its all about you'll be at the courthouse soon enough gettin the divorce papers finalized. If she/you are not happy at the fact that you will be spending the rest of your lives together than what matters which ring it is.

signed Married for 12 year  and counting

  12. You didn't tell us the shape of the ring...it is round brilliant?

The 1.27 carat seems like the compromise between the two that  you have...I don't really like clarity in the Si range, though, especially if it is a step cut stone...

Edit: Clarity matters. The stones look cloudy. It also depends on whether you are setting it in white gold, platinum, or yellow gold. With yellow gold, you can go lower in color and it won't be noticeable. Mine is 1.03 carat, E color, VS 2 clarity round brilliant set in platinum and I love it.

  13. The diamond doesn't have to be perfect. It's the ring that counts. Stop fussing over the Four C's, and choose a ring for it's beauty, not it's investment value.

  14. If you cannot see the spots in the 1.3 then go ahead and get that one.  If you want the VS then I would suggest putting it in a yellow gold setting.  With diamonds that are slightly yellow, you cannot see the yellow tint very much in a yellow setting but you see it more in a white setting.  They all sound beautiful though!!

Personally if you are going with yellow I would say the 1.2 if white I say the 1.27, I wouldnt suggest the 1.38 b/c it is SI2.  Good Luck!

  15. I would go with the 1.38 if thats what you want.  Are these all the same design?

I know there are a ton of diamond fiends out there who would insist that you go with the highest clarity and color than size.  For me personally I've always found color to be way more important than clarity and perfect diamonds aren't that different from average ones.  Then again I'm a size queen.  Certainly nobody would call me materialistic but as an artist I prefer my jewelry is in proportion to my hand or to wear none at all.  I'd rather have a large gemstone or moisanitte than teeny perfect diamond. (not that 1.38 is teeny at all)  Besides, the diamonds you find at most chain stores like Zales or Kay are H/I/J and SI in quality.  Many women are happy with them and I've rarely seen somebody comment negatively about them.

Try and get pics or see the diamonds in person.  Alot depends on exactly where and how the imperfections are placed in the stone.  For instance, a small speck at the edge of the bottom will show much less than one dead center.

  16. If you really want the 1.38 carat, get it. When you get it away from the other stones, it will look completely perfect.

Then choose a setting that fits your fiancee's style - classic, contemporary, simple, dramatic, whatever.

It sounds like you have you mind made up. Go with your instincts.

  17. It really depends on the girl...I'm sorry to tell you!! :)  For instance, some girls are SUPER focused on wanting a PERFECT diamong - flawless.....and they'd even prefer it to be smaller & perfect rather than larger & imperfect.  But that's some women.  Personally, when my husband told me he was looking at rings, I said "look, sweetie....don't worry yourself trying to buy the most flawless diamond possible.  I'M certainly not perfect and I don't expect my diamond to be.  I'll be happy with whatever you choose because it's from your heart."  Let's hope you're marrying someone who's the same way.  ONly you know her.  If she's a bit more materialistic and wants to show off her ring to everyone, then I'd go w/ the bigger size.  Girls like that tend to focus on size more than those other characteristics.  And besides, some things should remain a mystery!  I can honestly tell you that when I looked at diamonds, I couldn't tell a real difference between those that were flawless versus those having some imperfections!  So, she'll probably never know unless you tell her!!!  And let me say....if she ASKS you how much you paid for it & all the particulars....I'd dump her!!!!  It's not a good sign when a woman is more focused on the RING instead of on building a solid MARRIAGE.

  18. 1.27 - Ideal - F - SI1 - VG polish - EX symmetry - 60.5 depth - 60 Table

Because F is still colorless (women like that) and maybe SI1 doesn't look too different with VS2 (still eye clean, unless your lady would look at the diamond really closely but I doubt that).

Don't forget to get legit certificate to see the accuracy of those details and ask if the diamond has fluorescence (look for the ones with none or faint).
