Even if the fetal pole or yolk sac are identified on ultrasound, what is the incidence of a concurrent ecoptic gestation in the era of in vitro ferilization?

  1. Whats the controversy? You are asking a medical question and can only be answered by someone who actually knows.

It would be different if this was an opinion but it's not so I see no controversy.

  2. I fail to see the controversy. Ask your doctor about the incidence of ectopic gestation in this circumstance. I can assure you there will be a medical journal that he/she can refer you to. Our thoughts have nothing to do with the incidence of this medical condition, its a statistical value. You might as well ask me what I think about what 2+2 equals.

  3. Skip the in vitro and adopt a kid who needs a good home. (Now THAT'S being controversial!)

  4. I have no idea. Check ob/gyn and fertility medical magazines.

I would imagine that ectopic pregnancies are rare in cases of in vitro fertilization, since the egg is not traveling from the fallopian tubes...it's being implanted into the uterus by a physician. For it to be ectopic, it would have to travel back up the fallopian tube.

    Why is it controversial?
