I am 38 weeks pregnant and I am so tired of being pregnant!!! I have been walking and having s*x to try to make this go by quicker, but I am not even a whole cm dilated yet. Do you think I should just relax and not get too ahead of myself? Anyone on the same boat?

  1. It won't be long before you have your child, and it'll all be worth it. Just try to relax, and find some ways to occupy the time. You like tv? Rent some movies. Books? Have your baby-daddy bring you some. Like flowers? Plant some. Go see some friends. Talk to other women. There are endless ways to occupy yourself until the baby comes.

  2. My thoughts are this.  This time next month, you will be a mother.

  3. Awwww...you poor lady. A lot of my girl friends have told me that when they were pregnant they got so sick of it too. I think it's hard to be almost double your size and then on top of it all the changes your body is rapidly trying to adjust to. I think you should just breathe and relax. Once you have the baby and are talking about your time being pregnant, I think you might miss the peace and how intimate you felt with your baby. I would take a ton of pictures pregnant... you know, dress up cute and show off that belly. Knowing you will soon get your old body back might make you happy to be going through this journey.

  4. Just relax and enjoy it! Pretty soon your life will be SO different. These are your last few days to just enjoy the anticipation, and wonder what your baby will look like.

Later, when your baby is older, you will remember these days fondly. :)

  5. Why don't you ask your OB/GYN to induce labor??  If you're healthy, and the baby is healthy, I don't see why he couldn't do that for you...

  6. I think you should go to bed tonight at 10 and sleep until noon tomorrow.  Then, take a long shower, alone.  Then you should go out to a really fancy restaurant (that does not provide high chairs or crayons) with your significant other, and maybe a movie rated higher than PG.  Repeat daily until you go into labor.  I am not aware that any of this will speed up labor, but you sure will not be able to do any of these things again for a while, so enjoy the time you have left and stop trying to rush it.  It will come soon enough ;)

  7. I know how you feel. I was actually on bed rest when I was 38 weeks but definitely was ready for it to be over but really, you're not supposed to be due until 40 weeks and just don't rush things. Just think, the longer the baby stays in there (the closest to your due date) the healthier he/she will be.  You'll be glad it's over but I have a 6 month old now and actually miss being pregnant which I never thought I'd say. Enjoy it even if it can be uncomfortable.

  8. I was feeling the same way when i was pregnant with my 1st.  A friend told me to go walking and have more s*x, hours later i started having major contraction, labor was long, long long because I had contractions but was not dilating.  17 hours! ended up having a c-section. I dont know if it was cz i didnt let it come naturally or what....?

  9. I am in the same boat as you.. sort of. I've been 3cm dilated and 50% effaced since 36 weeks pregnant. I am now due in 3 days (August 25th 2008) and have done everything possible to try and naturally induce labour. I thought that since I was 3cm dilated at my 36 weeks appointment, I would have for sure had my baby girl by now, but nope.

I have tried all of these!!

-I have had my membranes stripped twice in the past week, on Monday and then again yesterday. I lost my mucous plug the day after having my membranes stripped the first time and have been having cramping and a lower back ache and a lot of pelvic pressure since then. I'm supposed to see my midwife again today to have my membranes stripped again today. My midwife said yesterday that my cervix is even softer, thinner and more stretchier than what it was Monday. She also said that by the looks of things, I'll be having my baby before my due date. We'll see. I stil have 3 days to go.

    -lots of s*x

-drinking lots of raspberry leaf tea

    -eating spicy foods

    -eating lots of fresh pineapple

    -lots and lots of walking

-bouncing around and just sitting on my exercise ball

-A drive on a very bumpy road

-going for a long hike up a mountain

    -nipple stimulation

    - acupressure

The only thing I well not try is caster oil.

  10. nope but i would love to be..

  11. I'm 41 weeks and 2 days today. I'd say dont get ahead of yourself. you won't be pregnant forever, that much is a guaruntee.

  12. im only 36 weeks but i have been walking like crazy just to get her to  drop and engage. Good Luck with your baby

  13. I think you indeed should relax.  I was induced at 40 weeks and still was only a fingertip dilated.

Any natural means of bringing on the labor process only works when you are about to go into labor spontaneously anyways.

  14. yes just relax... whatever you do DONT try castor oil. it doesnt work unless you are around 3 cm dialated.

  15. Try to relax.  When you got pregnant you signed up for 40 weeks of it!

While walking/having s*x MAY get things moving if  you're about ready to go anyway, since you aren't even due yet for 2 weeks, they are unlikely to have any effect.

It's completely normally to be 1 cm... or completely closed at 38 weeks, and it tells you nothing about when labor will begin.  It might start tomorrow, or not for another month. (And the same would be true if you were 3 cm.)

Your baby will be born when he's ready.  Don't rush him if he needs to 'cook' a little longer.

  16. I felt exactly the same when i was in your situation! but my son came 10 days late! so i was really tired off pregnancy! just relax and enjoy the peace while you can, trust me, in a few days life wont be the same! enjoy time  by yourself or partner, as you wont have anytime for yourselves when the baby arrives, life will be too busy. your body will start when its ready, plus, while youre baby is inside you, its safer! and you dont have to do anything for it for the moment. good luck with everything :)

  17. i think its normal for u to feel that way, but i also think u should relax. i think once a woman gets to that final 2-3 weeks, she is anxious and so tired of carrying that weight in front of her and just ready to meet her baby! u should relax, dont stress urself out, enjoy ur last few weeks because trust me u will miss being pregnant!! but if u just want to hurry hurry hurry the process, try drinking some castor oil..its gross but ppl say it works..put some in some orange juice to kill the taste, it will make u use the bathroom but u will be in labor soon after!! but i dont think u should do this until u are 40 weeks just to be on the safe side for ur baby!

  18. I don't know?

    BABIES!♥

  19. Just relax and enjoy your pregnancy. I know it's hard when you are in the final stretch. It will happen for you soon enough and then life will be hectic. Enjoy the peace and quiet while you can. Take this time to pamper yourself.
