  1. I gave up my first child in 89, since reunited. I went to a place in Ft. Worth, but it is in every state now I think, and they do international and are huge, but I am sure not cheap. Go to www.ednagladney.com. It is an over 100 yr old agency with very good reputation and following.....if I were adopting I would use them, becuase they take care of the adoptive parents after the fact (identity) wise.

Your friend can search around on that site to find where thier is a location close to her. Good luck, adoption is a wonderful thing.....

  2. We've adopted internationally twice. The agency we went through is small and only places children in our state, however, I know many families who've gone through Holt International, and Dillon International, and have had great experiences. Both agencies have been around for a very long time.

    Good luck!

  3. I am new to this Yahoo thing but I was searching for info on my child and I came across your question.  Google Faith International adoptions.  We are in the final stages of an adoption and we have been thrilled with the agency.  They have truly become a family for us.  We are about to pick up our daughter from China and they have held our hand the entire way.  Good luck.

  4. Here's a couple that I know friends have adopted through.  http://www.faithfuladoptions.org/?gclid=...

  5. i live in aus so i wont be any help but just wanted to say good luck to them they sound like thay are very devoted to be coming parents very good start

  6. I have not adopted internationally, but I do know of several people who have and they used the same adoption agency as us.  We highly recommend them.  Adoptions From the Heart.

    Good luck to your friend!

  7. My wife and Have friends who have adopted through European Adoption Counselors, commonly known as EAC.  I am not sure of an address or phone number, I am sure you can find them on the web, they are in the Cleveland area.

    Good Luck!

  8. Sorry to hear about the 4 year old but go to Rosie O Donnels web site, www.rosie.com, on there on the right towards the bottom under other sites she has a link that will take you to an adoption site. It is very informative.

  9. If you are interested in Christian adoption try the "focus on the family" website they have great info and references.

  10. There are a slew of great agencies out there. Some of the ones I mention work with multiple countries some specifically China. I wish I were more knowledgable about other country adoptions, however, I can suggest they look at some of the local adoption support groups. Families who have adopted get together periodically to have fun. It shows the kids that there are many, many families just like theirs and adoption is not something weird and they are not the only ones. From there they can talk to adoptive parents about different country programs and get references for agencies.

I used Great Wall China Adopt for myd daughters adoption. With China's new regulations I no longer qualify but your friends sound as if they do. If they plan on adopting more than one they need to consider that they may not be able to adopt a second child from China if they are in their mid forties. By the time they get their paper work completed, subit their dossier, wait for referral, travel and wait a year before they submit their second dossier they may be over 50 which disqualifies them for China for a second child.

These are very good agencies and most have waiting children lists which would be a faster referral time (you chose the child and SN) if special needs are not a problem. Keep in mind special needs in China are different than special needs in the US. I had a social worker for child protective services who could not believe a club foot was considered special needs in China. There are a ton of children with cleft lips and palates, heart conditions (often requiring no surgeries) missing limbs or digits, extra digits, albinism, and Hep B are all special needs and are truly not that difficult to manage. At any rate here is the list.

    Great Wall China Adopt

    Holt International

    Harrah's

    Heritage Adoption Services

    IAAP

    CWA

    Small World Adoption Services

    CHI

All are great agencies and come highly recommended.
