I am a VERY hairy guy. My wife doesn't mind, but it's not a particular source of excitement for her. Some females LOVE it. A friend of hers was over one day while I was hanging around the house with no shirt on. She kept looking at me oddly, I figured because I'm more hairy than most people have ever seen. When she was getting ready to leave I gave her a hug (as usual) and was suprised as she just reached up and ran her fingers through my chest hair before turning to go. I wear a shirt around her now...

But obviously it's a preference thng.
