Ladies: Can a pregnant woman ever get her EXACT figure back?

Hi girls.

As a future personal trainer, I work very hard on my body. It took me an entire year to perfect myself, and I couldn't look any better if I tried. I am proud of my accomplishment and hope to maintain it for as long as I possibly can. However, people at work that have kids are telling me I "should enjoy my perfect body now because once I have kids I will never, ever get it back." This really depresses me. Is it true? Is it possible I CAN get my figure back if I work for it?

P.S.-The reason I am being so picky about it is because I need my exact measurements (31,23,34) to continue with fitness modeling.

  1. That is not true at all. With my son I was in better shape and looked great after him. Now years later pregnant with 2nd, due in 3-4 wks. I think I will be fine again. Only gained  weight in my stomach and thats it. I am all baby so with some exercise I should be back to normal soon after baby.  


  2. It's after the second child that you can't get it back.


  3. Yes it can go back, especially because you work out. You might get stretch marks though. If this is a major concern for you and you are over the age of oh I don't know 22, then I would seriously consider not having children.  

  4. I have never seen it, but i don't know if its impossible.  Even women who trim down and firm up after childbirth still have wider hips.  To me they look better than they did before pregnancy!!  Much more feminine

  5. Of course you can!  Just keep up the exercise during your pregnancy! That is key.... and eat right too during that time.  I hear breastfeeding helps the weight come off way faster too.  I have never breastfed, only bottle fed, so i don't know first hand!

  6. I've seen a couple of people that get into better shape after they've had babies.  If you work hard, and genetics are in your favor you should be able to do it.

  8. Since you're already in great shape it won't be hard for you. The more you exercise before and during your pregnancy, the easier it is. My sister looks EXACTLY the same and she looked like a beached whale she got so big during her pregnancy ;)

  10. well i wasnt in best of shape to begin with. now i am in worse shape. i weigh 30 pounds more than i did before, and overall 50 pounds over weight. i feel and look like c**p. i think i could have lost that extra 30 pounds i gained if i worked at it. my stomach is way stretched out and i have stretch marks every where. my son is now 1  year.

Of course you can.  It sounds like you are committed to fitness so you should have no trouble.  Honestly I had no trouble and I didn't exercise.  I just breastfeed.  Once my baby was born the weight literally melted off.  I was back into my size 2 jeans within 8 to 10 weeks.  It would have been a little sooner but I had a c-section and I had a little swelling around the tummy area for a month or two.   Granted I didn't gain much weight during pregnancy (20 pounds) due to 9 months of morning sickness, but I was also 33 when I had my baby.

    Don't listen to people that say that you can't have your body back.  They are just jealous of your body now.  They want to bring you down and they just hope that pregnancy will change your body.  I know my co-workers used to say that about me.  "Oh, she is just thin because she doesn't have a child yet"  And then I really made them mad when I visited 6 weeks after having my baby and I look just the same as did before my daughter.
