  1. Hot flashes, as in menopause?  Yes, I've heard that many women have a harder time with their sugar levels and their hormones (both pms and menopause).

Do your sugars come back down within a reasonable time? If not, talk to your doctor about this. If they are not too high, a little extra exercise (like a short, brisk walk) might help speed both along (lower the sugars and reduce the hot flash). Maybe a low dose of estrogen therapy can help both problems.

  2. Any time my glucose goes way up or way down I have hot flashes!! It doesn't matter much which way it chooses to rocket, the hot flash is so nasty.

Best way I have found to control it is to tightly control the glucose levels. Absolutely never let them go above 150 or below 70!! Takes a lot of carb gram counting to get it to work right, but is so worth the effort not to have the sweating!! (My friend says in ladies it is "glowing"!)

Small meals, never more than 20 to 30 grams of carb per meal, and similar every day. Boring I know. I get tired of bacon and eggs for breakfast and salads for all other meals, but the glow that I had this morning makes me more determined not to have another for several months.

I eat small chefs salads most of the time. Real dressing on the side!
