Ladies European Tour: Battle for titles to culminate in Dubai
With fans and players impatiently waiting, the LET (Ladies European Tour) is finally going to see its last battle at The Omega Dubai Ladies Masters early next month.
The Omega Dubai Ladies Masters is scheduled to start from December 5 to 8, at Dubai, but the fans’ excitement has already built up, given how eagerly every contender is looking to finish the 2012 season off in winning style.
Mohamed Juma Buamaim, who is Vice Chairman and CEO of Golf in Dubai, expressed his confidence in the coming event, saying everyone has been waiting to see their favourite player shine at the season-ending battle.
Buamaim said that since the last tournament will decide which player finishes at the top of the race, players are taking it more seriously than anything else.
Before LET stars head to Dubai, they will take part in the Hero Women’s Indian Open, slated to be held from November 30th to December 2nd, at DLF Golf & Country Club, New Delhi, India.
But what has gripped the attention of golf-crazy fans across the globe is a battle for two big accolades.
Top-ranked players on the money list will be seeking to grab the Ladies European Tour’s Order of Merit. On the other hand, Rookie of the Year title will also make players push themselves to the limits.
So far, Spanish Carlota Ciganda appears to leading the lineup as she is currently standing at the number one position in the ISPS Handa Order of Merit, having earned an eye-popping 232,656 euro.
Moreover, Ciganda is also hot favourite for the Rookie of the Year award. And if she manages to grab the two accolades, she can break the record of English Laura Davies who did the same in 1985.
Officials of the Omega Dubai Ladies Masters are keen to point out that the tournament is sure to boost golf not only in the Middle East, but it will also cement LET’s reputation across the globe.
“With so much at stake coming down the line for frontrunners, we can expect a great finish to the tournament,” Buamaim said.
“Women’s professional golf has become quite competitive with many young players enjoying early success on the tour. This surprise element has further spiked interest in the game”.
