Ladies European Tour signs Callaway as golf balls supplier
Callaway has joined hands with the Ladies European Tour and will now be their official supplier of golf balls. The balls to be used in the next European Tour will be Callaway’s Three-piece HX Diablo Tour golf ball.
Ladies European Tour Executive Director Alexandra Armas confirmed the news in a press conference on Tuesday. She said, “The Ladies European Tour is delighted to be teaming up with Callaway, a company internationally renowned for superior quality products.”
Callaway has been the manufacturer of golf clubs and accessories since 1982. It has been known for bringing innovation to the sport, refining the golfers’ gear.
Now that Callaway has been signed as the official ball of the tour, all the players will be provided with the ball in practice sessions. Generally, golfers have their own balls, but since the deal has been formalised, Callaway balls will be given to the contestants free of cost.
The deal will serve as a promotional tool for the new three-piece HX Diablo Tour golf balls. According to Armas, the new ball has been chosen because it is a unique combination of distance, feel, and control. These three factors are the undermining elements that led to the manufacturing of a better golf ball.
The ball has a Power Reaction Core, which means that the ball is softer in the centre, but becomes harder towards the outside. It will reduce the spin when hit by a driver and increase the spin when struck by a putter. Moreover, it has an enhanced DuPont HPF inner cover, which elevates the speed of the ball. This will help it cover greater distances with clubs that have shorter lofts, such as a 2-iron or a 3-wood.
Apart from the speed, the ball has been made using HEX Aerodynamics technology. This technology aims at reducing friction and increasing the trajectory of the shot. The combination of the two factors will help control the ball in windy conditions.
