They say that "they want to 'help their players' develpment' both on and off the course.

Are you kidding me?

This is golf we're talking about right?

LADIES golf to boot! Remember what Golf stands for?: Gentlemen Only Ladies Forbidden.

Boy this post-9/11 nationalism is running its course into all levels of frivility. I can imagine all of the blond hair and blue eyes at the LPGA offices at their little meeting:

"Hey, we should have everyone speak American, since we ARE in America"

"You know what, I think that's a great idea; it'll be good for the troops watching in Iraq!"

Give me a break. Do you agree with their new decision?

Any player uttering any other words in any other language will be suspended for 2 years.

  1. This is truly stupid! They're playing golf, not entering a English speaking competition. Could you imagine if the Tour De France required all the competitors to speak French? Could you imagine the outrage? Hopefully over the next few days the LPGA will slap themselves (HARD) and realize that this is a terrible mistake !

  2. that's a very tough deal but she will be worth more in this country for commercial wise endorsements if he spoke English

  3. This rule is unfair and the LPGA is going to lose in court on this one.  Since when has golf been about speaking english.  Players should be judged on their play only.  No other sport has an English speaking rule, these players are not applying for a passport or citizenship they are just playing golf.
