Ladies Irish Open: Pink Friday launched by Irish Golfers
As Ladies Irish Open draws near, women golfers of Ireland have set in motion a novel idea that will support the members of the Irish women golf bodies and support their favourite charity.
The scheme is called Pink Friday. It will be launched just before the commencement of Ladies Irish Open supported by Fáilte Ireland. The aim is to honour the members of both Golfing Union of Ireland and Irish ladies Golf Union.
According to the idea behind the initiative, all the members of these two organizations will wear a complementary pink shirt and will be admitted free on the opening day of the tournament.
A collection of donations will be held on the same day and the proceeds will go to the Breast Cancer Ireland.
The idea was launched on Tuesday in an elegant ceremony. Top ranked Irish women golfers came out dressed in pink to announce and support the initiative.
The line-up was headed by the top rated Irish golfer Rebecca Codd. She was accompanied by two fellow Irish golfers, Danielle McVeigh and Tara Delaney.
The line-up was completed by the phenomenal twins that have caused great sensation in the golf world, Leona and Lisa Maguire.
The five golfers posed for a promotional photo during the announcement. This promotion will make the fans and players aware of the fact that the tournament also supports charity work.
The stage is all set for the toughest tournament on the Irish golf schedule. The best golf talent from all over the world will compete for the prestigious trophy.
The most favourite this year is, of course, the defending champion, Suzann Pettersen. She is a hardened veteran of international golf and has tremendous expertise and experience to her credit.
However, this time she will face tough competition from the upcoming players who are determined to make a name for themselves, and what better place to achieve fame than the prestigious Ladies Irish Open.
The event is scheduled from August 3 to 5. The venue is the beautiful Jack Nicklaus Signature Course at Killeen Castle. This golf course is well known for its scenery and hard-to-play reputation.
