And not a relative. I mean someone that you look up to as a mentor or whatnot that isn't related to you. And of the opposite gender.

  1. "Role" model, no.  Women whose qualities I admire, yes.

  2. my boyfriend

  3. Yes definitely, my role model is Bruce Campbell - Hail to the King!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  4. No, none that are not related to me.  I don't have a female role model that is not related to me either.  There are many, many people I look up to and admire, both men and women, but very few I would consider role models.

  5. Lots.  But, they are all literary characters like Gregory Peck's "Atticus Finch" in "To Kill a Mockingbird" or Star Trek's Spock.  In real life, I believe the man I most tried to be like was New York Mayor Giulani's uncle, maybe great-uncle, Jimmy Giuliani.  I met him when I was only four years old and loved him as the only grandfather I ever had in childhood.  Before Alaska was a state, lots of military installation construction stuff was booming there and hordes of skilled labor was pouring in.  Jimmy Giulani, an older gentleman, drove young men from his family all the way from New York to Ft. Richardson near Anchorage for painting jobs on all the new quarters.  He was just going to get the guys safely delivered and then return but fell under the spell of Alaska and refused to ever leave so he sent for his wife Alta and he and my father built them a great two-story cozy cabin before winter.  They were charmingly "old world" with dainty ways, doilies and coo-coo clocks and fancy phonographs and pewter tea service, etc.  They were "old fashioned" compared to my high powered all-American modern family, but they were FAR more socially mature than my family and they became a sweet and beautiful stabilizing, nurturing element in our family's health.  Jimmy looked and acted  EXACTLY like Gepeto, the father of Pinnochio in the Disney film. http://www.gpdesenhos.com.br/imagens/dis...

His kindly child-nurturing ways sooooooo delighted me.  Once, I think that first hard winter we were all in Alaska, before television when people entertained each other as families and beloved guests around a fire or stove at night, he and Alta had us all stay for a weekend in the cabin when we were all feeling blue over a death in the family and he entertained us, all of us, all weekend in this wonderful safe warm loving envelope of sweet giving and wisdom.  He taught me how to raise a vegetable garden and how to entertain unhappy children back to health.
