For instance, if you were just as qualified as him, more intelligent, and asserted more skill sets; but still overlooked.

Even if you don't have proof, your intuition often tells you. Don't worry, this question is not for judging anyone. I would just like to hear your stories.

Men: have you ever seen this happen to a lady you know? How did it make you feel?

  1. It's not happened to me for the past 15 years but during the 70s and part of the 80s it was a regular occurrence.  The main issue for me was race, though.  I'd answer a blind ad in the paper, and the interview over the phone would go very well, then I'd show up for the 2d interview and you could just see the interviewer's face fall when they could see that I was a black woman! Then all manner of excuses came out as to why "you wouldn't be happy" here...and it was such a crock! but there wasn't really anything to be done about it apart from reporting to EEOC and they already had a full caseload...so you just had to suck it up and look for the next job.

  2. No - it never has.  And I suspect it is because I don't approach my work as a woman...and gender doesn't even enter into my mind.

Sadly, women often accuse employers of this kind of discrimination when they have only their intuition to support their claim....and people with a persecution complex will be able to identify 'discrimination' at every turn...

  3. I applied for a job as a glamourous airline hostess but they turned me down because I was a gentleman. Sexist pigs.

  4. No. As far as I can tell, all of my past employers have been very fair to women and men. There was only one small instance; when the managers at my station needed someone to run the on-air workshop, they only asked women.

  5. Yes.  I once felt that my age and s*x were an issue because I was of "childbearing age."  I'm sure that this would not be a consideration for a similarly qualified man.

  6. I have never been past over for a position because I am a woman.

  7. I have yet to actually meet a woman more qualified than me, so this question is really beyond what I know.

  8. Years ago women were bared from becoming FBI agents, policewomen,  firefighters, transit workers, all things very common today, just to name a few.

  9. I've never seen it happen. I know of cases where women attain management positions and then go and have babies leaving the company in the lurch though. Women play the system - they get the salary and then start a family knowing the law says they can't be sacked for taking time off to raise a family. In the meantime while they take the management salary the team is left trying to manage itself while she the boss is working part-time.

  10. this does not occur nowdays,it would be considered illegal and unethical.
